The C serial prefix for the post-war M&P started in 1948. Given that yours is a relatively low number in the scheme of things, my guess would be early '50s.

My C102944 is a March 1950 shipment, so likely sometime after that date.

Just to let you know, the "Roy" mentioned in post #3 is Dr. Roy Jinks, the historian for the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation. He has the shipping records for S&W firearms.
