What do I have?

Smith and wesson model 1 1/2 ?
4 inch barrel 32 rim fire.
All matching #43.
Serial #14569.

What more do you need? I can only add that it should be a 1st Issue since that model ran until 26,300. This model was only manufactured from 1865 to 1868.

Since it could be an Old Army #2, I'll ask if the cylinder stop is in the bottom frame or is it on the top of the frame? First Model 1 1/2's had the stop in the bottom strap.

Do you have photos stored in the device that you are using to post here? If so, sending them or attaching them is an easy matter.

So you do not have a Model 1 1/2, but a Model 2. A Model 1 1/2 was a smaller revolver and was a 5 shot, while the Model 2 was a 6 shot. Both revolvers shot a 32 Short RF and a 32 Long RF cartridge. This ammunition has not been made since the 1990s and those old boxes are now selling for over $100 a box. Next time try to figure out how to post pictures.

BTW, if you actually have a 4" Model 2, you have a scarce gun, since almost all were made with 5" or 6" barrels and looked like this.

From there, of course the question is if it had a 4” barrel from the factory. Photos would help here.

A Model #2 with a factory 4" barrel is quite scarce and usually are expensive. Fakers figured that out and cut 5" & 6" barrels to 4". To authenticate the barrel length, look at the S&W address on the rib. If the address is centered then, most likely it is legit.

Stay away from my...oh never mind!
I really hope to see what gun you have if/when pics are available. I only have one 1800s made S&W, but they are really cool in their simplicity yet perfectly fabbed parts made with the tools of the day. I really hope someone didn't butcher this one as stated in Post #9. Even so, it's a cool gun. Good luck.

After getting home looking at the barrel the address is not centered.
Other then that it is a complete gun.
It was something my late father bought for $30 about 20 years ago.
Just a good keepsake I guess
