What do you use your S & W for?

I keep my 1006 locked & loaded just in case one of those killer racoons shows up to eat the cat food on my back porch.

Sammy

Isn't that a little overkill?? :) I would hate to be a raccoon in your neighborhood.

My 15-2 is mostly a safe queen 98%+ and I inherited it so I like to keep it that way, my 4566 is for serious HD or carry when I feel the need, and everything else (Model 10, 19, 29.. etc. etc.) is a paper puncher range gun. Every once in a while I will carry my baby chief special.

This is a tough question

I carry a 4003TSW at one of my reserve police dept's and a my M&P40 at the other one I sometimes work for. I enjoy carrying my little 5-shot 637 on all my jobs and in my car. I sometimes load up my S&w1911 or 4506-3 if I feel the need for carrying 3lbs of steel on my hip. I've yet to shoot my Performance Center 40 cals. Don't know why they just never make it out of the safe. I love shooting my M-66 and M-19's. I love shooting revolvers. With the new 8 shot S&W revolvers some PD's should really make them an option for officer carry. I would switch over in a heartbeat. My M&P-15 gets carried alot in the trunk of my cruiser and has dispatched many an unlucky deer who were maimed in car-deer accidents. Too many more to go on about. I love my S&W's.

4566 for work. 4516-1 for EDC, 3913 as a back up. 4506-1 as a shooter and collection piece.

Sometimes I think I am S&W poor. Too many to use and appreciate. My two J-frames are for defense/carry/bug. My two K-frames are for carry and general fun. I have four N-frames that are mostly used as woods bumming guns and hunting backup.

At present I don't have any S&W semi's, that job is still held by Austrian plastic guns. That is going to change because the bottom feeders are going to find a new home to be replaced by more S&W revolvers if I can find the ones I want.

I just plain old like to hear 'em go BOOM!!!!!!!!!! and see little holes appear in various and sundry oblects, or even better see stuff vaporize :D

I was going to quote Caj, then...

Or in my case, BOOM... squint ... no hole, scrach head & cuss ... repeat.

GF

I was going to quote GF, cause my experience is much like his.

BUT, I'm convinced all my Smiths have something wrong with them cause I can't be that bad. Sending them all back for repair....

What do I use my Smith&Wesson for? Was the question.

Self protection and family protection and house protection and hunting.
So does my wife and son.

Duly noted. Sorry about not answering the OP's question.

I use mine for home protection, paper target shooting at the range and "reactive" target shooting at the farm. And a few are for mostly owning and looking at....

The 686-4 4" is for fun at the farm or range.

The 36 (no dash) is for IWB or front pocket carry.

My 625 lives in the drawer of the end table next to where I sit in the living room. Loaded with Speer Good Dots. It goes out in the desert sometimes, in a El Paso Saddlery Tom Threepersons holster.
The 638, loaded with short barrel Gold Dots, goes into my pocket or into the paddle holster when I go on the town.
The Model 28, reamed by Bowen Classic Arms to 38-40, often goes into the desert in another El Paso Saddlery Tom Threepersons.
The 41 (4 digit SN!) is for fun: competition or plinking.
The three 39s (No dash, steel frame and 39-2) are for looking at and admiring.
The 1917, Victorys and 38/200 are to remind me of the sacrifices of our armed forces, and those of the allies, in two world wars.
All of them get their share of range time.
The 2d Model, 1st change, round butt 38 Special, Hand Ejector, factory refinished ca. 1958 is for sale.
I don't think I've forgotten any of them

4" M-19 likes to ride on the tractor and farm truck, gets to encourage the coyotes to look elswhere for livestock to attack.

"BOOM... squint ... no hole, scrach head & cuss ... repeat"

You guys are funny as hell.

AND, may I say I'm impressed by all the references to the venerable 3913. I've always said if they all go, the 3913 stays. That was before I got the 686 4", of course. Now they both stay. And the Dan Wesson 1911, of course, and ...you get the idea.

My 3913 is occasionally carried in place of the Walther PPS 9mm. And the 686 is occasionally carried, if I can wear a cover garment. (Hard to hide that beast). My wife had a 637 lightweight, but she hated it, so I traded it for the Walther PPS. I never thought the 637 pointed naturally. WAY concealable, though.

Face it, there is NOTHING wrong with the 3913. It just screams to be carried, held, shot...

The presence of one or more S&W's gives me great comfort and a sense of well-being.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

5903's (with first model trigger guards) for SD, worn in a Galco Miami Classic MC244 and a Galco SOB244 worn in the 5:00 position, along with a 637-2 in a Bianchi model 12 ankle holster, also for SD. (I'd like a 9mm for the ankle holster, but the 940's are out of my price range). The 637-2 was a much needed upgrade from an old Charter Arms Undercover .38. (I NEVER wear shorts. My legs are too hairy and ugly to inflict upon others). Dad's old Victory model loaded with wadcutters is for HD. I need to get some other .38's to keep the Victory company. (I just realized how lonely it must be). The other few are for looking at and lovingly, softly carressing.:)

My bad.
I use my Smith & Wesson for shooting things that either threaten me, amuse me or just need shooting. I also use then to play with, show to people, and to draw inspiration from. I use them to remind me that I have too many of them . I also use them to pick up wimmin cause everyone knows that de ladies love a man who knows his way around firearms ;)
Going further....
I keep them in my car, in my desk,
in my house and in my vest.
I always have my Smith & Wesson,
in case a bad guy needs a lesson.

There.....happy???? :D

2 Smiths
Mod 41 7"
1911DK w/Kimber 22 conversion
Both are Target Range only pistols

I use my Smith & Wesson pistols to plink with.

I also depend on them to help keep my gun safe from blowing away if the wind ever blows that hard.

I'm with Caj, and like Buff, they keep my safe from levitating. I like to use unloaded ones like remote controls and point them at the TV when politicos I don't like are on there, and say something intelligent like...Bang, bang, bang.
