What do you use your S & W for?

First, peace of mind. Knowing they are available as needed does that for me every time.
Second , entertainment as there are few things more fun than shooting a nice Smith well.
Lastly I think of them as art because they are so darn pretty (even my 649). (o;

Must admit, mine also keep the savings account from growing too vigorously. A reasonable number to use as carry guns, though usually a 3914 or 3953 takes that position. The rest, from 0.22 to 0.455 (that is the correct calibre) are for "fun!!' Dave_n

Self-defense,plinking,something to keep animals off me in the woods, vermin eradication.

And if you think a 10MM is a bit much for coons you ought to see what a .44 mag does! :D

I look at mine and drool... ;)

No, seriously, I bought my 4040PD to be part of my "three pistol solution" to the problem of self-defense and property defense at my business (which is also my residence) and my parents' home. The last pistol, which I haven't purchased yet, will be an MA-homologated Kahr PM9 for those times when you want to slip the pistol into your pocket while you walk the dog.

The rest of the time, the guns are carefully and securely placed in my residence and at the business. On my person also.

We will rotate the three pistols (S&W 4040PD, Ruger SR9 and Kahr PM9) according to need. I may purchase a fourth pistol as a backup gun, probably a S&W M&P.

Also peace of mind. It's amazing how much better you sleep at night when you know you can defend your life and the lives of your loved ones if the need should arise. It's worth the money for that alone.

+1 for Capt Steve and UHSAK88. Most of mine are Performance Center pistols and they give me peace of mind whether its duty use, concealed carry, home defense, range practice, or just cleaning and admiring them. They have earned my confidence and resspect with their reliability and durability.

Self defense. I'm too old and broke down to run, never could fight all that good so I need help if the SHTF.

As any owner of a Model 639 can tell you, I use my iron for driving nails, boat anchor and SD. The 639 can be used with or without bullets for self-defense as the 639 weighs about 80 lbs.

That would be walking two dogs then..... would it not? ;)

I use my 5906 for occasional concealed carry, HD, and range plinking.
My 642-1 is my pocket/BUG, my 629 is a woods gun, and my 22a is a plinker and the gun I use when someone wants to learn to shoot. My daughter has taken to call it hers.

My M&P 45 ACP to defend my life and lives of others, it is my partner.

My 686 2 1/2" is carried for the same reason when I not on duty but required to be armed. It has served me well.

My 649 and 696 are the home defense guns; one or the other is accessible in just a few steps from any room in this small house. The small bores are for inexpensive fun at the range; the larger bores are for more expensive fun at the range. All together, they are just for peace of mind and the pleasure of owning a bunch of really fine precision machinery.

Sigma 40VE Night stand and cold weather CCW. I have a old charter undercover 38 that I carry daily the rest of the year.

As Fred G. Sanford would say "You don't know, and you don't wanna know"

That is good stuff. I feel the same about many of the things my siblings collect. I got most of the good stuff. They screwed up.....they trusted me. One of them likes Colts and the other Rugers. Will it never end?
