What do you use???

I have a 6" 29-2 that is nickel and what to know what people use to clean, lube or store them? I have done my fair share with blued and coated firearms but not so much with nickel. This happens to be my first.

My old nickel-plated 29-2 is cleaned the same way I clean all my revolvers.
Hoppes #9 and Hoppes gun oil.

Some people say #9 isn't good for nickel-plated guns, but I've not had any problems.

LOL, I used Hoppes #9 for decades on mine before I heard "it wasn't good for it". No problems, but I didn't let it soak in it overnight either.

Light coat of oil will protect it. Don't forget to clean/oil under the grips too

My nickel model 586 gets cleaned with break free clp the same as any other gun I own. I did use mothers mag polish and flitz on it to get it looking decent

It seems that the products don't change, but the way they apply plating and bluing do.

I have a blued 29 that was my first revolver purchase (from my dad) he had it since I was a kid that I shoot. A long the way I picked up a nickel one that stays a safe queen and just curious on what people use to clean polish and store since from what I have read hoppes #9 is the devil! I normally use weapon shield or Mpro 7 to clean with them oil.

I have read differing opinions on whether the nickle on Smith's have a Copper "wash" underneath the nickle.
But I did have a conversation with Armand Awenson about the satin nickle on my 1976 Colt Combat Commander. NEVER use #9 on that Colt finish because they did apply a Copper wash before The Nickle was applied.
(Hoppe's #9 has ammonia in it's mix. Removes copper.)
Having said all that, I have used #9 on my nickle-plated m36 without issues. But it doesn't stay on very long.
YMMV.
Bottom line... It should be fine on a S&W.

Mine still looks fine after using it for decades. It's factory nickled, can't speak for aftermarket nickled though.

I use M-Pro7 as my cleaning solutions. Best I've found. There is no smell so the wife doesn't yell when I clean my guns. Works real well on my 627ss and 929 as well as my blued Model 10.

I use Ezzox for lubrication. I'm starting to try Lucas Oil but it's too new for me to make a comment about it.

I have used Mpro7, weapon shield, breakthrough technologies, CLP and the original Hoppes I can say for cleaning Hoppes and Mpro7 would be my go to and for lube I like the weapon shield. The Nickel M29 I have I acquired and just needs to be really cleaned (not that it's dirty) it is more stored than shot so I wanted to give it a real good cleaning and lube.
