It's erosion.
One of the worst I've ever seen.
Look at how the once flat barrel face is now beveled inwards.
Not quite as noticeable but here is my DW 7445 after many hot W680 rounds.
It's been pretty much retired in favor of an Encore (S&W product) with 12" and 17" .445 SM barrels.
Parts for the DW large frames are almost non-existent and while quite sturdy,
I did have that revolver repaired twice while the original DW factory was in business.
It's been gone a long time and so has my interest in wielding a 5 lb. revolver with scope.
I also like the Vihtavouri powders and use Universal as an alternative to Unique as it meters better and burns cleaner.
Universal does burn slightly faster than Unique so don't just copy a Unique recipe.
