What does your wife or significant other carry?

She had a Remington Model 51 .380 but soon realized that she shouldn't trust her life to a vintage, pretty worn out piece like that, no matter how cool. She tried a Walther PP .380 and didn't like it (neither did I). My Model 10-5 snubbie is a little blocky for her, so she searched out, bought and really loves her Colt Detective Special in .32 S&W Long. Not the most potent round, but she sure shoots it well.
By the way, when we met about 10 yrs. ago, she had never handled a gun. No interest at all. Now she's a SASS shooter, has her CCW and is an NRA Life Member. True love finds me at last...

My wife is "practicing" with my model 60 and 642, but still loves her Bersa 380 Thunder. I would like her to go with the simplicity of a wheel gun, but I'd rather she carry what she's comfortable with.

Wife carries a S&W 638 here in Texas and a 642 in Florida. Why? Wel. She loves the 638 and we have palace in Florida but there were no 638's anywhere and we got tired of paying the airlines 25 bucks each way to carry our guns on our trips back and forth. So we bought a 642 and keep it at the place down there. She qualified with a Rock Island 45 1911 and shot 89%, not bad for a " little old lady."

Wife here. I carry a S&W vintage .38 Chief's Special. I use a Bianchi pancake holster on a Blackhawk belt with my waist high jeans and a Galco contoured belt with my hipsters. My husband carried the snub as his BUG when he was a State Trooper. We just got an LCR .22 Ruger for practice. After shooting both on Sunday, I think I'd like an LCR in a .357 and shoot .38 rounds. The LCR fits my hand better. I have the Hogue grips on it to replace the stock wooden one, but am looking into the Pachmyr grips (thank you S&W Forum) as the metal spine hurts my thumb joint when I shoot. I think that there is an evolutionary process and I know that I will end up with another carry gun. For now it is "Snubby". I can get a grouping of about 18" x 18" at 30 feet. My husband had me do a drill Sunday: standing with gun pointed down, he says "Go", I raise it, aim and double tap. Right now he wants accuracy, then we'll work on speed. I am confident that I would be able to hit center body mass as long as I don't panic. Don't mean to derail this thread, but since I'm a woman and my husband doesn't post here I thought you all might want to hear this from a woman's perspective. RR

Just because we have to make do with what we already own, a SIG
p230. It's small, but I sure wouldn't want to be shot with it.

Missus P&R Fan got her permit a few months ago. I am going to give her my M642 that I never carry. I think it will be a good one for her. Only thing is, I DON'T want her to carry it in her purse. It would take an hour to find it, and there would probably be a Tic-Tac in the muzzle.
Jim

Barami Hip Grip ! (they come in black, white, and PINK)

My lovely mrs. swaps between an M&P 9c and a Shield 9. I think she likes the slide and feel of the 9c better but appreciates the thinness and external safety (I know) on the Shield. She's not a big fan of my 442 (or any of my wheel guns).

I just bought her a Ruger SR22 for the range. She'd like to EDC it but she knows .22 is a bit "light" for PD. It's a great piece and a blast to shoot BTW!

My wife is a LEO as well. Her duty weapon is a Sig P229 in .357Sig. She rarely carries off-duty (which drives me nuts). When she does, it is her duty weapon. She does not own, nor is she issued, any additional handguns. Her attitude has always been, "This is the gun they give me, so why would I need any others?". Sigh...

Better half home defense

My lady has a 3 pronged home defense..The first 2 are silent, fast, and very protective. To go along with that she carries a SP101 that she is scary with. She has her concealed as well. Tried to get her into a Smith, but opposites do attract! Oh well as an instructor once told me the best firearm is the one you shoot well no matter the make or caliber..

The little lady has a S&W M37 Airweight .38 Spl. that I picked up for her from Chief38 here on the forum. She loves that little gun and is scary accurate with it! She has 6 Irish guards that walk with her as well, so she is pretty well covered!

The Hogue grips are her everyday favorites for recoil, but the Altamont grips are put on for family get togethers and BBQ's:D

She's carried an SP101 in .357 and a S&W Model 34-1 in .22LR.

She doesn't like semi-autos simply because it takes two hands to rack the slide and she figures she doesn't have the strength she used to.

She tends to like the DA wheel guns the most because she can just keep pullin' the trigger until the gun goes "click" without fear of a stovepipe or failure-to-eject.
