What else do you collect? I used to collect these.

I have collected,

Russian pocket watches(eBay)
Gravely tractors, model L, LI, L8

Anything but collecting Women. I’m going to do that last. Lol, kiss them, hug them, squeeze them and send them home. Lol

Lovely pocketwatch! I'm a mechanical watch guy myself. Do you only collect American made pocket watches, those made specifically in PA, or all pocket watches?

American railroad grade pocket watches, mostly. This Pennsylvania Special is one of only a few that the RR's issued to their employees. Most had to buy their own. Seems they lasted longer that way.

Nothing specifically, just old stuff.
Most would probably consider junk, and rightly so. I do have a fairly large coca-cola memorabilia collection.

Ive not much left myself except some old pepsi stuff nd a few old bottlecaps with cork on the inside.

I collect memorabilia from the year 1939. Maps, books, photos, 1939 World's Fair souvenirs, etc. And I'm still seeking a nice S&W revolver that was documented to have been made in early 1939 to round out that collection. Perhaps someone here has one or can provide a lead? Yes, that was my birth year.

I thought I'd post this stuff I PMed you, John. Two giant 1938 Newspaper archives book of the S.F. News featuring ads for the coming 1939 International Exposition on Treasure Island in S.F. Great graphics featuring the China Clipper which I believe they flew under the bridges. And that pillow my aunt got there was always in the family.
Buried in these papers are occasional short articles about some guy named Hitler. They didn't seem to take him too serious. J.C. Higgins .22 shown for size comparison.

Lots of neat stuff in this thread. I can't really say that I collect anything outside of firearms but I kinda collect personal fishing records (photos, citations, and one day a big Muskie mounted on my wall). In doing so, I've accumulated a fair amount of fishing gear.

I collect nothing. I do have guns that I shoot and use but nothing I would call a collection. I do sorta collect pocket knives but I am more of an "accumulator". No safe queens, I use each and every knife I own, well over 100 and I constantly give them to grandchildren, sons-in law etc.

GAK's-German Army Knives from W. Germany, fixed blades and folders. I don't actively pursue them, I pick them up when I run across them if they are cheap. They're not so cheap anymore, much like everything else.

Vintage Railroad Grade pocket watches and other ornate pocket watches 1850s to 1900 mostly. If found with solid gold cases a big plus. I have 120+ pocket watches plus chains, fobs, etc.

World War II vintage advertisements and promos of Packard engines or boats / vehicles with Packard engines like the PT Boats, and original advertising art work (original paintings of which all other ads are printed from). Elco PT Boat & Submarine advertising items, e.g. WWII posters and WWII decks of cards made for Elco.

Cookbooks, books in general. By default I have a huge knife collection, decoy collection, and Native American pottery(mostly Hopi)

And being female, jewelry of all kinds. Mostly vintage or custom pieces.
(don't mention shoes & purses)

Do you remember the Vertibird? It was the favorite toy of my brother who had Muscular Dystrophy. I collect them. What great memories!

John, you’ve reminded me of my fixation with 1966!
Magazines, movie posters and my ‘66 Triumph 650 TT special ( Steve McQueen desert racer replica.

Not being female I really don't understand the large amount of shoes and purses women accumulate. Could one of you ladies splain it to me Lucy?? My wife must have 50 pairs or more. She says to go with different "outfits"...but c'mon! She just gets PO'd at me

I also have a fair collection of duck decoys...Mostly Chesapeake Bay made..including Ward Brothers

Almost forgot. Gun books and magazines. American Rifleman, Accurate Shooter,Precision Shooting, Few Guns and Ammo. Projects in Metal and Home Shop Machinest. Handloader and Rifle, Gun Digest and tha annual reloading book they used to publish. Literally hundreds of gun related books, gunsmithing, reloading. Have 3-3'x6' book cases full and need a fourth. one of these days gonna find one of the shelves has collapsed due to the weight and number of books and magazines. Great Reference library. And exactly one pocket watch. Was owned by my dad who worked for the Long Island RailRoad for about 45 years. Would have to dig it out to find out who made it and have a Sterling silver watch chain to go with it. Frank

My grandson and I collect WWII items, both U.S. and German, such as helmets, hats, visors, medals, inert grenades, most anything that we like. My grandson is 8 years old and can embarrass most adults when it comes to WWII history.

If you saw Saving Private Ryan you saw this device used by a soldier inside the building when the Germans were coming into town. You see him quickly connecting the wires and cranking the handle.

Nice collection of lids as well as M-35 caps. Is that an M-35 or an M-40 a Double decal SS lid? or single decal? Just wondering? I collect Imperial, WWII (Amer+GErman) and post war German Medals, Badges and stuff. Mostly I have German.

It's a M40 Double Decal German Polizei Helmet stamped Q66, but not an SS.

Fish Decoys

I recently began collecting fish decoys (ice fishing, spearing). I try to concentrate on MI and Great Lakes region makers and more realistic working-type fish compared to the modern "folk art"/display-only style, although I have some of each.

I grew up in an area that had a lot of people of Finnish descent. I have admired the Finnish people for standing up to the Soviets in 1939. In homage I have I have been collecting books on Winter War and firearms of Finnish design or capture.

1/16th scale toy farm tractors. Stuff from the 50's through 70's; not the new items.

And a little green depression glass in the Patrician Spoke pattern.

I have all the issues of Road & Track and American Rifleman going back to the mid 1980's. That's about as close to a collection of anything as I have. Not counting ammo & reloading components of course.
