It Means What It Says -

MY theory is that instead of states succeeding they simply kick out the nut job states.

But, if the rest of the nation is tired of high density cities setting policy, how do you think the people in rural areas of states like CA,OR, WA feel. Plenty of good gun owners in those states are being trampled by their cities. When I lived in WA state I met lots of hardworking men and women with conservative values who loved their freedom and outdoors, but the policies and government of the whole state are completely dominated by the population of Seattle/Tacoma.
 
The beauty of a constitutional republic is the majority does not rule, the senate and the electoral college are very import. The Constitution is even more important. On a state level, the State constitutions can be scketchy, sometimes you have to vote with your feet. I picked South Carolina in retirement for a reason.
