What Else Lives in Your Gun Safe In Addition to Guns to Keep Your Kids Safe?

A sack of old coins, and a collection of all of my very first cartridge loaded in each caliber (spent shell of course). My first shell fired in .45-70 from a handgun. The very first .22 my son ever shot. And the very first .22 shell from his very first rifle given to him, which was the very first actual gun I had ever shot.

Then the same old important documents and computer backups, and my external hard drive with a bunch of photos. Couple of my more expensive knives. That's about it.

Besides guns I kept important papers, jewelry, old silver coins and some cash. Of course my wife had access to it as we were married 25 years and she had stuff in it too. Big mistake as she cleaned out everything she wanted and took pictures and a count of my guns and filed for divorce.
Had to sell most of the guns to pay her off and got pretty burnt in other ways. In the future I'd keep a safe combo to myself and maybe own his and her safes.

I don't have any kids but if I did the safe would serve only as a distraction. I remember as a kid I had all of summer break to find my parents hidden stuff, and I often did. Manged to open a lock with a paper clip once and eventually figured out the combination to the safe. Idle hands....

When you were a kid - that was a long time ago. I would hope that technology has improved the home safe by now. Hee hee

I tried keeping my daughters in the safe until they got married.

But they complained it was cramped, smelled like old guns, and their cell phones would only work when I had the door open.
