What gun have you had the longest?

.. I got to my old Winchester model 190 it dawned on me that I have had that rifle for a little over 50 years now...my Granddad gave me that gun in '72 or '73.

My older brother may have put that model 190 together. In the 72-73 time frame he worked at Winchester in New Haven assembling model 190s. I remember him saying they each put about 60 of them together in one work shift. He built a fancy one for himself, saving the nicest wood for his own, essentially full fancy maple forehand and stock, and bought it at the employee price. I think he told me they made a version of it for Montgomery Ward under their name. My brother has passed so I can't ask him about it. Wish I had the fancy one he made for himself, he traded it not long after he bought it.

1965, Nickel High-Standard Double-Nine (of slightly older vintage). It could never compete with most of the handguns that I own now, but has more rabbits, squirrels, coon, frogs, opossums, turtles, and even more than a few quail to it's credit than the rest of my handguns combined! And still shoots just fine.
I'm with you on the Double Nine. Mine isn't nickel plated, but it's still one heck of a fine 22LR revolver IMO.

.22 = Remington Model 33 (Age 11 - 1987)
Shotgun = 20 ga NEF (Age 12 - 1988)
Centerfire = 7x57mm Spanish 1916 Mauser (Age 13 - 1989)
Revolver = .38 Enfield DAO (Age 14- 1990)
Autoloader = CZ-52 (Age 18- 1994)
Scary autoloading rifle = SKS (Age 18- 1994)
More scary autoloading rifle = MAK-90 (Age 19- 1995)

Still have all of the above, except the MAK-90, which has been upgraded. As you can probably guess, my enthusiasm for restrictions on youth access, possession and non-criminal use of firearms is very low.

I mention to firearms earlier I've had the longest but they were bought with my own money, not gifts or inherited .

My dad bought a colt huntsman 6" when I was 6 back in '61 to learn to shot with and a remmy 511p a few years later . I still have both of them and they were used to teach our daughters with and our grand kids with .

My first was a 1897 Marlin my old man bought for my 5th birthday in 1955. The following year he gave me a Stevens 94 12g. In following years had a lot of clunk hand guns but twas 1964 before I got me a NIB Single-6 on a deal. My first new CF rifle was Win M70FW pre 64 also NIB from same deal. Also bought 1st CF handgun Ruger SBH same year.

as did I. Does yours have the barrel long enough to reach the next state over?
No it doesn't . But it does have a " Cylinder Bore " . No choke . Only one I have ever seen . Supposedly my Grandfather was some kind of bird hunter . That's all I was ever told . Never met him . He died when my Dad was a little boy .

That I purchased? A Sig Sauer P228 I bought in 1989 as a wedding gift to myself. 34 years.

That I've inherited? A 1955 Smith Highway Patrolman. 68 years old. I love that gun. It's 2 years younger than my house.

I am looking for a ~100 year military issue revolver. Because.

I received a Winchester model 67A Boys Rifle the Christmas I was 11 and a High Standard Double Nine when I was 14. The rifle belongs to my son now and the Double Nine has been retired-it was nickel and it wasn’t a Smith & Wesson so I wasn’t that fond of it.
When I turned 16 my friend’s father gave me this model 10-5 .38 revolver. He was a mentor and had been instrumental in facilitating and expanding my interest in firearms. He was one of the best shooters I’ve ever known, especially with his 8 3/8” model 27. I shoot this one regularly, I’ve always been able to hit with it and still shoot with my friend-we lost his father years ago. A favorite of mine for the past 55 years.

Regards,

The only gun that was given to me by my parents. 742 Remington 30-06 from 1968 to replace my deer hunting rifle, a 303 British Mark 111 made in 1916 that got worn out in the trenches of france a long time before a young kid bought a $15 mil surplus gun to deer hunt with. That 742 has taken many whitetail deer. Is stays in the back of the safe now, I have moved on to accurate bolt guns for the acquisition of table food.

Probably my M1911 Colt. It was made in 1917 and "modified" by a service armorer at some point in its life as a hardball target gun.
One of my first guns was a 1911 (about 65-66 years ago) I traded into it and traded out of it. After it was gone I missed it and picked up another. (I did this several times until I finally realized I always needed one in my collection and picked this one up about around 25-30 years ago)
It is no beauty, shoots well and fills an empty spot apparently I need filled....
