What guns do you carry the most?

It seems a lot of the replies say something like a J Frame in the summer and then something bigger in winter when you have a coat to hide it under. What do you do when you get where you're going (work, restaurant, friends house) and the coat comes off and you're down to the same shirt and jeans you wear in the summer?

Lotsa folks carry larger-bore in the Winter not so much for being able to cover what they carry better, but for having a larger caliber to penetrate the extra layers the bad-guy may have.........I saw and heard it all of the time in LE.

I carry a j-frame on each ankle 332 & 642, small of back either a 1911 38 super with 4" barrel or a 657 w/2 5/8 barrel. I carry a emerson karambit left pocket, emerson cqb tanto right pocket, and benchmade neck knife. You never know what the day may bring and i've found new york reloads to be quicker (just grab another gun).

Isn't penetration more an issue with the ammo type than caliber? I'm new to this but it seems more expansion would mean less penetration while more velocity would mean more penetration.

Yessir, you are correct. However, to many folks, bigger means better. Many folks will say that if the caliber does not begin with a "4" it is no good.....just was relaying what some folks say and feel. I did not say it was correct for them to do so.

That would be my glock 26. When it gets colder sometimes my 6906. They both are great!

everyday carry

I am old school, I carry either my Mod 60 or my Colt DS with 2 speed strips in off hand rear pocket 90% of the time.
In the cold months, or depending on where I am going, I carry a 1911A1 with a spare 8 rd mag.

340sc .357 in pocket or a 442 .38 I like the wheel guns best. I have several semi's but nothing beats a pocket rocket!

Colt LWT Commander or LWT Officer's Model 1911 usually...sometimes my Glock19.

Those Colts sound sweet. I have LTW Officer's and an old 70's satin nickel Combat Commander. The Commander is a boat anchor to carry but it's reliable and hits like a sledgehammer. It's just a little hard to stuff in the front pocket of my Levis.

My carry guns.

I would prefer to carry a 2 1/2" 686-3 but its just too bulky.

My most trusted carry gun is the Kahr PM9. I've put over 500 rounds through it without a hiccup. (knock on wood)

My next would be my S&W model 38, or if I'm going out in bad weather, it would be my S&W 342 Ti.

The Kahr is always with me. :D

augy :p

Glock 26. I can't say that I really like the gun, but I shoot it well and since my prior department restricted the officers to carrying only glocks on duty and off, I guess I got used to it.

Model 19: 14%
Model 437: 100% (as a BUG)/ 28% (as a main gun)
SW9VE: 58%

Those numbers can change from day to day :D
