We have lots of backwards laws in NY regarding firearms , didn't realize there was an ammunition problem other than some issues related to magazine capacity:confused:. Can you mention the specific ammunition that one is not allowed to carry in NY, I am unaware of any.
I know that NJ has some issues with HP ammo.

JHPs are banned from carry, even for LE like myself unless you are on duty NJ LE. Even retired NJ LE can not carry JHPs there.
Getting caught with JHPs in NJ is a felony, and can carry a fine of $1000 per round of ammo.

I have a letter from the NJSP Firearms units that states Cor Bon Powerball, Hornady Critical Defense and Federal EFMJ are legal since they are not "hollow points".

I carried my G19 to stay legal with the 15 round mag capacity limit, and the noted wadcutters in my 638, and EFMJ in the G19, to stay legal with the ammo laws there.

Yes, as I noted NJ has ammo issues, but how did NY get lumped in with NJ regarding ammo?

I'm feeling so old....

My duty rig was a Model 27...sheesh...all this Glock talk....

Personal carry is a Colt Compact .45 ACP. Small and accurate and eats anything I feed it.

Lowpower

Sorry if I was confusing, the ammo restriction was only in NJ, the trip I took was back and forth between NY and NJ.

No problem guy, things are bad enough here without having ammo issues. :) Don't want the NY haters to get all riled up over nothing.

However, I do have a S&W 642 on layaway. Been visiting this website too much.

I have made several changes recently - Main carry rotated between Para P12 LDA, Para CCO LDA, Para PDA 9mm, h&k P7 & p7m8, s&w 21/22/24/65/66/681. These usually carried iwb. Dress up or quick trip to store - walther ss ppk, Kahr k 9mm, mk 9mm, usually carried in pocket.

640-1 w/ 125gr Golden Sabers. Been my #1 for a while.

Full size autos: Arkus 94 (sort of a High Power clone), Kimber Stainless Gold Match or CZ97B. For casual dress, a S&W 442. In heavier winter dress a 6 1/2" 610. Normally carry in shoulder holster or a cross-draw.

An M&P 40c and a hammerless J-frame. I'll go to my 1911 and J-frame in the winter when a coat will cover it better

It's been a mix bag, depending on the situation, I guess. I put away the j-frame for now.

This is my always rig and by always I mean always. We had an attempted home invasion so the 640-1 never leaves it's spot by my appendix until bed time and then it's within arms reach.

and this is my funeral/wedding carry gun.

I have carried 1911-A1, glock 30, 19, 23. S&W 637 (my favorite) and now the S&W99 in 40 cal. :) Out of them the 99 fits the best in hand imo

I carry a 638 with Crimson Trace grips more often than the others combined. I have a 3" 60 that I carry occasionally, especially for walks in the country. An inside the waist holster that allows me to carry a 1911, but I seldom do. I have a shoulder holster for a Makarov, but have seldom bothered to use it. I have a nice holster for a 2.5 in 66 but don't carry it a lot, sometimes when hunting.

Most of the time it is the 638 in either a pocket holster or a DeSantis inside the waist holster.
