What guns have you regreted selling?

Over the past 40 years, I have bought, sold or owned about 150 guns. I always regret selling my S&W DA 44. It showed just a wee bit of holster wear. The cylinder indexed and locked up perfectly. I just bought another one to replace it.

3 Model 29's (2 - 6" barrels and 1 - 4" barrel, all blue) pre-1976 models
A pre-69 Belgium High Power - was beautiful.

Wow there are many but these 4 really were painful
1 HK 91 My dad gave it to me on my 17 bday sold it about 5 years later to pay bills to my brother
2 colt delta 10mm blued
3 colt annaconda again sold to my brother
4 S&W 645 sold at gun show
these 4 were the most painful

My #681 no dash, I bought it new when they first came out, for $224, also my #1006 10mm, the best auto I ever had.

Odd One Out?
Firearms come and go. When I get my fill of shooting one it gets traded or sold to get the money for the new and improved gun I want.
There is only one handgun I wish I had that I sold, S&W 640 38SPL, if I had been able to see the sites better...

i sold a Marlin 30-30 that was given to me when i was 14, a looooooong time ago and still regret it 36 years later.
Too many to list.
Two that really bring pangs of regret
Model 19 4", nickeled, traded in 1983
Model 586 4", nickled, sold in 1990
These were my duty sidearms back in the day. Lord I wish I had them back.

I regret selling or trading or having had stolen ....Every single one. I wish I had them all still.
My current boss has a wonderful philosophy that I wish I had known about much earlier.
"Never sell a gun. Soon you will not have the gun and you will not have the money."

I regret selling my model 29-3 "silhouette" with the 10 5/8th" barrel.
Bought it new in 1984......sold around 1991. I might just pick up another one day.

wish i had a model 58 back mainly cuz its worth 3x what i sold it for.

I only sold/ traded 2. A .45 m&p for a 4506-1. No regret. I sold my SW500. I had no practical use for it and it just abused my hand. So unless they somehow quadruple in value in next year or two.. No regrets. I was able to buy a model 29 no dash with the $. I am happy. BTW If you think I'm up in the middle of the night it's because I'm in the middle east this week.

The way i look at it is if you miss them then you still have the passion for them and that's a good thing. I have a book I keep of every firearm I own or have owned and as I age it's actually enjoyable to remember each gun and how you came about them.

Two big regrets:
1. Traded a nice West German Sig 226 for a Rock River AR, because I was suddenly bitten by the black rifle bug. Now I don't have either one of them.
2. Saw a pristine S&W Model 39 in a local store for $325, and had the $ to buy it, but decided to "think it over." Of course, it was gone when I went back for it.
I learned from both of those experiences.
1. Traded a nice West German Sig 226 for a Rock River AR, because I was suddenly bitten by the black rifle bug. Now I don't have either one of them.

My very first gun, a model 14, 6 inch, target hammer/trigger, full smooth target grips and a Jim Fish action job. Had a matching model 17, sold it too. Dumb or what?

All three of the 686s I've sold. Maybe the Para P16 Limited 40. And all three of the Sig 228s, and maybe the 225. But screw it, these aren't the first stupid things I've done.
Several years ago before I really started to appreciated older S&W wheel guns I picked up a victory model marked US Navy.
I sold it for what I paid for it (very little) to my boss whose son,who was headed off to Marine flight school after he graduated the Naval academy.I felt the gun belonged in that young mans hands.Now that I seen the light I feel it belongs in my collection.
Oh well!

Far as I recalal, in my entire past, I have only sold one Gun, and, it was a minty Colt Python Target .38...I was not using it, and, though I was participating in Target Competitions, I preferred to use ordinary old Revolvers with plain 'Half Round' Service Sights.
No one wanted the Python...it was a hard sell...finally, I accepted $225.00 for it...this was in the early 1990s.
Otherwise, never sold any.
I did trade a horribly re-finished ( but with crisp texts and edges, no hint of any pits, ever, ) Model 1905 Colt .45 ACP Pistol...I think someone had tried to do a Phosphate finish on it, but other than looking a yucky shade of dark 'grey', I do not think it had ever been buffed or anything. Anyway, traded it straight across for a lovely, low use, some Plum and Holster wear, circa 1914 Colt New Service target Model in .44 Russian/Special, which was in a very nice state of ohhh, 65 percent Blue I'd recon.
Sometimes I wish I would have just bought the New Service and kept the old 1905 which I now know, I could have sent off to Doug Turnbull and had done right with minimal prep or hassle.
No one wanted the Python...it was a hard sell...finally, I accepted $225.00 for it...this was in the early 1990s.
Otherwise, never sold any.

57, 4-inch, blue, couple of old rust spots on the cylinder. It came to me like that. But at least it went to a great forum member.
