What hobbies do you have besides S&W ?

other hobbies

I am a fanatic bow hunter and enjoy all kinds of firearms sports.

In the realm of firearms, I love target shooting, and I'm always on the lookout for nice old target rifles. There is nothing like a summer day at the range, punching holes in paper at several hundred yards!

I've been playing the guitar since I was 12...I have a 1977 vintage Guild D-35 that I bought brand new, and a Yamaha 12 string that I bought new about 15 years ago. (Music in general is a major passion with me. I have over 18,000 songs in my iTunes file, and I go to a lot of live musical events every year.)

I've never been a pilot, but I love to fly...been up in everything from a Grob sailplane to a Stearman PT-19 to an Airbus 380.

I can spend all day in a good art, aviation, or military museum. I'm a member of the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum, the American Air Museum in Britain, and the Simeone Foundation Museum (which is dedicated to classic racing cars) in Philadelphia.

I've been riding motorcycles since I was about 18, and that too is a major passion. I had Japanese sport bikes until 1992, and BMWs since then. (Hence my screen name.) I'm a Life Member of the American Motorcyclist Association.

I've owned performance cars my entire life, and I love to drive. My current car is a 2013 VW Golf R...all-wheel-drive, 256 horsepower, runs like a scalded cat. :)

I love to travel, especially to Europe, and do so every chance I get.

I tell people that over the years, I've spent about 3/4 of my income on guns, motorcycles, sports cars, beer, and wild women...and the rest of my money was just wasted. :)

No hobbies, but a few what I would call pastimes:

Motorcycles, sport touring and adventure touring. I have put a lot of miles on airhead BMWs, a couple of Guzzis, and a wide array of dual sport bikes. I take it too seriously to call it a hobby; there are guys who call themselves hobbyists, and they are a whole different breed.

I have accumulated a few knives, not enough for me to call it a hobby, but some others have called it an obsession.

For a number of years I was a pretty decent bridge player, haven't played much recently but would take it up again in a minute if a congenial foursome could be found, or any foursome for that matter. I hope I never end up in a nursing home, but if I do, I hope there is at least a bridge game.

I do the NY Times Crossword. We get the Sunday puzzle a week late in the local paper, while the daily puzzle runs five to six weeks behind. Will Shortz is just about my speed; I don't have the patience for the knottier British style puzzles.

Just starting skeet shooting: fun to shoot, no bag limit, no cleaning required. Looks to cut into the S&W accumulating, but I did snag a shooter-grade late 1910s M&P target Wednesday when I picked up my first Beretta - a 686. :) Other afflictions include golf, classic movies (lately, film noir) and Parker fountain pens... another pricey pursuit.

Colt, Ruger, Dan Wesson, Remington, Winchester, High Standard, Browning.....8 Lee Enfields, 7 Mosin Nagants, 3 M1903s, 2 M1917s, 2 M-1 Garands....
I am an enthusiatic bicyclist-even bicycle to work-a fan of the traditional 3 speed, do all my own maintenance, have even disassembled and reassembled-correctly-a Sturmey-Archer hub.

I'm currently finding and refurbishing vintage axes, hatchets and other wood cutting tools. I keep a few and gift the rest. I like old blacksmith and tinsmith hammers too.

Hobby other than guns

I do lot of freshwater fishing and make lures, semi commercial. Mostly bass
walleye, and musky. Here is Mud-Hen carved out for a musky bait, if granddaughter doesn't swipe it for knic- knac.

Wow, so many here that touch on my interests. I have always liked fountain pens and have 8 or 10 Parkers. Guns has been the most satisfying, Colt, S&W, Winchesters in pre 64 M-70 and M-12's.

I've shot Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays competitively. Job changes led me to areas where this was not possible. Job changes also led to the down fall of my fishing time. My poles that have not been used in 20 years.
Jobs are killers of your life style and life.

At retirement I started a 160 acre farm, cows n stuff. Lately I'm thinking where is the retirement thing I worked 60 years for? Yesterday I sold the chicken flock and cow herd. Pulled back some cow money for a nice OU shotgun. Might get a Beretta 686. Pull!

I will fish some this year. I just fired my farmer self....

Baseball. I love baseball, even more than guns. During the season I'm either watching it on TV or checking the scores and news online. I love going to games, minor or major leagues, doesn't matter.

I like to go metal detecting , i have a Garrett AT-Pro and have found a lot of coins and historical artifacts :)

Same here. The hobby that pays!!! I use a AT Gold or a Minelab Etrac. Old (ca. 1800s) rural home/farm sites are where i regularly hunt. Half of the fun is doing research, and combining old maps with Google Earth.

Local history, old cars, and cigars are the other hobbies.

I dabble with many hobbies.. Do the metal detecting thing from
time to time with a Garrett Ace 250, which I have three coils.
9x12, stock 6.5x9, and the small sniper coil.

Like to burn animal carcasses on the grill when I have time.

Play geetar and drums.

Like to camp out and play at my dirt patch near Lake Eufaula OK.

Like shooting, but these days I probably shoot my pellet rifle more
than the firearms. I like my .22's, but with the ammo scarce and high
$$$, it's cheaper to fling pellets.. :(

Like to fly my artificial airplanes. Run many different types, but fly
the PMDG 737 the most, as it's my most realistic plane. I also dabble
with flight sim software.. IE: livery paints, panel work, scenery, etc..
Make action videos quite often.. Made this one yesterday to show the
new SWA livery 737-700 I've been tweaking on. Have the 800 in the
new "hot dog on a stick" paint also.
The video looks best watched on utoob in 720p HD...
No peanuts were served on a plate. :/

When I'm not working, fly fishing and camping are priorities. I would also like to pick up a motorcycle early this spring.

Too many to list...that's where I get the screen name :)

One semi-unusual one is that I collect vintage brewerania. I collect pre/post prohibition beer advertising, signs, collectibles.

One of the rarest beer steins in my collection is a stein from the 1901 Pan-American Expo from a vendor that was showing and giving them away to patrons--firm was based in Chicago. My guess is that there were no more than 50 made; and I would find it hard to believe there are more than 10 in existence.

A little late for the party.

A few here know I collect radios.

How much does something like that cost?

Go to eBay, type in Catalin Radio, when you see the prices your eyes may pop out.

Well lets see, I love home improvement projects, reloading , driving my SRT10, growing Tomatoes, cooking/grilling yardwork and being a dog owner...Oh yes and I ride an RM250 Dirtbike.:D
