Do you or your spouse remove it? What is it's function?

It sounds like a French word but is Greek/Latin.:D

My Wife has to remove it!

No Google cheating.:)

I think it's called the chelazae or something similar to that. I don't know its function, but it doesn't bother me a bit. We are blessed to get fresh farm eggs from one of our church members and they are so far superior to store-bought that it's amazing. I had eggs on toast for supper tonight.

Now I have to go to Google and see what the real spelling and function is.

Not sure what slimey thing you are referring to,but unless I'm mistaken, the only parts of an egg are the shell,a membrane, the egg white, another membrane and the yolk. I will thus assume that you are referring to the membrane(s)?
f.t.

p.s. Function would be protection of,or separation of,the other inner parts, maybe?

Are they store bought or real farm fresh eggs?
Store bought pale yellow pen kept chicken eggs are not in the same league as a bug eating, poo scratching, grass eating hen produces.

Farm eggs are much more delicious, we had chickens from when I can remember on the farm. I had them for a couple of years after retiring.

If they are farm eggs with free running chickens and roosters, don't think anymore about it just eat up.

Arjay has the right frame of mind and shotgun693 gave a free reality check.

Eggs are for eating. Have been since 100 million BC.

The blastocoel

The blastocoel (blast-o-seal) is the part of the egg that actually develops into a chicken, the yolk being only nourishment for the developing chick in the egg. I don't always remove it, but I'd like to. yuk.
