Didn't Colt Firearms have some manufacturing capability in England before the Civil War, hence the term "London Colts".

Indeed, Sam Colt did establish an armory in London to make the 1851 Navy. It operated for only a couple of years, and made only about 20K revolvers. He couldn't make a go of it there. THe London Navies are highly sought after by Colt collectors.
