I paid over $300.00 for a bottle of whiskey for my Brother-in-Law for a Christmas present. Cannot for the life of me remember the name of it, but it came in a blue box.
I just got an email from Woodford Reserve for a virtual tasting onthe first Saturday in May since the Derby was postponed... I think I may have spent too much in Kentucky.... lol
About forty years ago I had a friend who was a curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. I once asked him why art collectors would spend such enormous sums on paintings by great artists when one could buy an excellent reproduction for so much less. Most people could never tell the difference anyway. Why spend, say a million bucks or whatever on a Picasso when you could buy an excellent reproduction for, say, a couple of hundred, if not far less?... People who pay those ridiculous sums for a bottle of whatever are simply being ostentatious, in my opinion...
My former father-in-law once told me I was so cheap I'd squeeze a nickel 'til the buffalo pooped.
See, and I look at it exactly the other way round:
I started getting out of buying more guns and more into buying good whisky when I got wise enough to realize that living was more important than having. Better to buy experiences than more stuff that you can’t take with you![]()
