good stuff. how have you yourself prepared for this?
Well I'm not buying zombie ammo if that'd what you mean. Nor am I expecting a complete and total apocalypse of any kind. However, something local and short term is not out of the question and has certainly happened recently in other states.
Well I looked at my defenses. What I can and can't realistically accomplish. And while I'm not exactly happy with them there is not much I can do with certain aspects. I cannot cut down trees that are behind my back yard. They block out the view of the road and road noise. It's very pretty and shady in the summer but it also makes it easier to sneak up. They are not mine to cut.
Certain firearms get priority in certain parts of the house.
Water filtration system that can deal with unknown water. I have a creek behind my house. More like an elaborate water drainage system to keep the basements dry because my development sits on the bottom of a hill. I also keep a supply of bottled water.
Food storage. Water storage (see above). Preserving food...canning/dehydrating fruits/vegetables and smoking/drying meat. Keeping a few canisters of propane. If all else fails I can still cook on the grill.
Candles/matches/lighters/flashlights/batteries.
Small solar panels for powering minor things like phones, radios and even a home made AC unit.
Keeping the car gas tank full. Even if I don't go anywhere it's still useful for other purposes. In my car that's 13 gallons.
Small things like blankets, shovels, mobile water pack like soldiers use. A water bladder. Blankets are good for winter and isolation. Shovels are good for burying your waste if your toilets have no water. Water pack is good for storing water if you happened to run across some while out. Keeps your hands free or allows you to take a little extra. The bladder is just for storing water but if you least out in the sun you can heat the water as well. Not to a boil but pretty hot.
Small portable camping stove. One that uses wood and one propane.
There's more but it's just a lot of little things that make life easier. Like first aid kit
