What is your favorite motto??

There is nothing as permanent as a Temporary Solution.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

I hate rude behavior in a man........I won't tolerate it. from Captain Call in Lonesome Dove

"Everyone get's the same amount of ice. Difference is, the rich get theirs in the summer and the poor get theirs in the winter."

"Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop once in a while and look around, you will miss it."

"If you always tell the truth, you won't have to remember what you said."

You judge a man's wealth , not by how much he has.
But by how little he needs. (I'm a wealthy man!)

It's not a motto as such, more my mantra. It's a blues song title by Mose Allison. "I don't worry about a thing, cause I know nothing going to turn out right." Certainly releaves a lot of stress.

Wow, 32 pages, haven't read 'em all, someone may have already posted this one. It's from a headstone in the movie "Striking Distance". "Loyalty above all else, except honor"

A lot of the stuff on here sounds like it was lifted off of a cheesy B-grade movie. Especially the gun-references. Corny.

l'enfer, c'est les autres (Hell is other people) Jean Paul Sartre.

Virtus Junxit Mors Non Separabit (Whom virtue unites, death will not separate)= Inside of my Masonic ring (old, old phrase)

"You have to go out, you don't have to come back"= unofficial motto of the U. S. Coast Guard Rescue Service.

Motto Clan MacNeil, shown on all badges,
In the Latin-Vincere Vel Mori
In the Gaelic-Buaidh No Bas
Which translates to: Victory or Death; Conquer or Die
it's terribly Klingon-ish (It's a good day to die) but I kind of like the spirit it encapsulates.

As far as my life philosophy goes summed up in a trite motto-type saying: Comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable.

I didn't read all 12 or so pages of these..but my Daddy taught me two things, his "mottos" to me so to speak....
"You can delegate authority, but never responsibility"
"To be good, you've got to look good".....

It ain't quite a motto, but I guess you could call it an acquired attitude.

The more I'm around people, the better I like sheep and I hate sheep!!!
