What is your Go to War Sidearm?

I am too damned old to go to battle but if it came looking for me I would have to use my Sig P320. I might have time to get my 6906 and Model 19 back from my grandson. He wouldn't need them because he has plenty of 45's.
Now for those concerned with the P320 firing without the trigger being pulled I have faith in this one. It has been modified, I have done everything possible to get it to fire, dropped it, tossed it in the air, held it in every position and even hooked it up with a Oster vibrator and could get nothing to happen.

It is interesting to note that only 1-2 members picked the current US military sidearm; Sig P320/M17/M18.

I would have expected it more popular as you would have the ability to pick up GI mags long before you got to the front of the fighting to get a battlefield pickup...[/end quote]

Well, I myself live in California, so I'm unsure whether or not I would be behind enemy lines :(

I don't know about you folks, but if I'm protecting my home turf, I'm sure as heck not going to care about what some bureaucrats, diplomats, and politicians put down in writing as to what kind of ammo I'm supposed to use.

I've shared this quote before, but it bears repeating:

"There is only one way to fight, and that's dirty. Clean gentlemanly fighting will get you nowhere but dead, and fast. Take every cheap shot, every low blow, absolutely kick people when they're down, and maybe you'll be the one who walks away."

So, in a scenario where the proverbial "ship hits the sand," I don't plan on following any convention's rules of fair play.:D

I couldn't possibly disagree with this statement any more that I do right now...

Folks may fight dirty, but there is a better way, to fight decisively.

Those who fight dirty do so because they really cannot fight at all, so they rely upon cheap tricks and deception to win a fight.

Actual warriors doesn't need to deceive their enemies because they know how to fight, cannot be bested by deception because they can see right through it, and never drop their guard, leaving no opening for a suckerpunch, a kick to the groin, a poke to the eye, or a stab in the back.

Dirty fighting is only employed by contemptuous cowards which can only succeed against like-minded individuals who fail to recognize, analyze, and neutralize a threat without hesitation before it has an opportunity to strike, because they lack any skill, instinct, or spirit for fighting.

Fight dirty if that's the most that you are capable of, just don't be too surprised when it fails spectacularly when attempted against anyone with even the most miniscule of combat capabilities, or if a true warrior simply recognizes you as a threat and makes short work of you before you ever get a chance.
Otherwise, I suggest actually trying to become educated in the art of fighting, to hone your skills, sharpen your mind through experience, and seek out your fighting spirit in order to overcome your fears as well as your doubts so that you can fight decisively.

Have you been in a real fight?

"Fight dirty" probably means different things to different people.

Here's my concern. If that means doing something illegal or shocking to most people,

1. martial law was probably already imposed, you would be executed then and there, or detained and brought before a military court of law, which might or might not be merciful?

or

2. a third party observes excessive use of force, then, believing s/he's being a Good Samaritan (albeit missing the preceding event and context), uses deadly force against you to protect the "victim?"

or

3. if/when rule of law is re-established, witnesses, cell phone/drone*/satellite and/or other evidence of what you did come to the attention of the authorities (the "fighting dirty" incident would likely have taken place in public), what would happen then? Or would the authorities somehow be lenient, given the circumstances, like in the film "Crimson Tide?"

* an FBI drone captured the entire Kyle Rittenhouse/Kenosha incident, which helped exonerate Kyle.

I agree with pretty much everything except the “hard object” FMJ penetration capability. In most hard objects like wood, etc, hollow points just plug and don’t expand and give FMJ performance. On hard objects like sheet metal, it’s the velocity and energy that get the work done.

There may be something to that. My second choice is my stash of Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr. +P rounds. I think they're a good choice for longer-barreled pistols like my 17L.

My EDC when off to war are two 1911 Colts in 45ACP in shoulder rigs. The shoulder rigs are a must as I'd be Carried Every Day off to war in a B52H. :D

Pic of one after the JMB's Outta Ammo Mods while other pistol is still in his shop.

Are you technically at war if shots are passing by while out for a walk in the neighborhood?
If yes, then way was my request for Hazard Duty Pay denied while in kindergarten?

Just kinda kidding .... but a few weeks after active USAF duty I was driving my Sister's convertible back into the now officially "the HOOD."
Smallbore shots rang out from both sides of the street about 20 yds in front of me.
A kid I grew up with, he and his twin brother were bullies, was limping towards me with a red spot rapidly growing on his thigh.
"Don't you get any blood on my Sister's car".
You're Mr. tuff guy so walk or crawl to the hospital."

I never pull up to close to a convertible at a stop light and would expect the village idiots to hold their fire for convertibles rolling by. Poor parenting skills at best.

AJ,
Found that pic on the Web some years ago.
Some say it was photoshopped.
Riding herd on our and other teenage boys, during their pain in the butt years, I confiscated some knives, throwing stars, brass knuckles and still have not returned them 20 years later.
Maybe when their kids are older.... your Dad carried these before he put on a Badge and now carries a Glock.
Hopefully the kids will say..... yup, that's truly sad about that Glock as well.... for steel is real, Mr. T".

What ever arm Uncle Sam issues ... there is always that ammo problem .
What if the issue ammo is 9mm or 45 acp and I'm standing there with my 41 Magnum ... A good gun with no ammo is worthless ...and I can't carry enough ammo to fight a protracted war ...
So the best is whatever is issued ... unless you are a General ... they don't shoot much if at all .
