What kind of knife do you carry, if any?

I can't ever remember not carrying a pocket knife. For about 60 yrs. it's been a Buck 301 Stockman. I'm on my second one. I broke a pin on the first one in the late 70s and sent it and the blade to Buck for a repair. They sent me a new knife at no charge. This one shows some wear but at my age and health I believe it will out last me. Larry

SOG Trident.

I've posted this one several times before. It's a 1920 Schrade "safety button" knife...aka "switchblade." It was a gift from a dear friend and it originally belonged to his wife's grandfather. As my friend said when he gave it to me, "This is a working man's knife, so I expect you to use it." And I do. It does the everyday tasks ranging from cutting the string on hay bales to opening feed sacks to opening my mail, plus the out-of-the ordinary jobs such as cutting scion wood for fruit tree grafts and just about everything in between.:)

I carry a CRKT. It's an every day tool (I literally use it every day!) that could also be used as a weapon. The Kabar pictured with it was my former EDC knife:

Kershaw makes excellent, inexpensive, folders, and can never go wrong with a Spyderco.
Few years back bought a Workmate Ken Onion edition with the blade grinder attachment, and it will put a razor edge on any knife.

I carry a Keyshawn leek , even in shorts or dress pants I'll clip it to my wasteband rather than my pocket
I was once caught unarmed in my backyard when a pit bull attacked and nearly killed my Kevin Dingo
I choked the little monster out … I wouldn't ever want to go through that again ,I'd rather just cut its throat
Kind of surprising I wasn't mauled as well
Edit: Kevin was ok after $800 emergency surgery , still my best friend , he tried to save me on another occasion
Best friends , we got each other's back

Everybody has different needs. They can even change for an individual as their situation changes. I carried a Schrade 1940T decades and it served me well. But then one day I found it too small because my work situation changed.

I went to a bigger knife. I carry a Boker AK74 automatic. It looks daggerish but obviously only one edge is sharp, being a folder. I bought it on a lark. Turns out it's a decent utility knife but if I had to do it over I'd get a more traditional blade. Sometimes ya carry what ya got. I have several knives available that I've acquired over the decades. No need to buy another.

My wife is used to asking me for my knife. She may use it more than I do. I get this disappointed look if I don't have it with me. We were at a large BBQ once and she came and asked to borrow my knife. When she gave it back she told me she asked six guys for theirs and not one of them was carrying one.

Oh the look of contempt in her eyes...

Funny. I actually buy very few knives. Maybe 50% of the ones I carry. I tend to lose them, so I see them as a disposable appliance. The NRA gives them to me. My daughter gives me some. I find them. Some come to me through yard sales. I ALWAYS carry a knife. Right now it is the one the NRA gives you when you pay your dues. I have a backlog of knives waiting to be carried when I lose the one I'm presently carrying.

The newer Sog Trident AT-XR is my favorite for EDC now. Beefed up with steel liners and D-2 steel. Plenty of real estate on the handle with a 3.7 inch blade. Spring assist and blade propels like lightning. Great choice for tactical/self defense. Sog has a Trident FX fixed blade coming in July. Can't wait to add that one also.

I've been carrying a Leek lately due to its weight, thinness and ease of carry.
It's great on boxes etc.
I do have to be mindful of that tip on the blade. It could break under rough use and it's poked me more than once.

I have been carrying the same Benchmade with a 3 inch blade for at least the last 15 years. I don't remember the model but it's similar to the Bugout.

I use it several times a day for anything from opening packages, stripping wire, cutting hoses to digging a sliver out of my finger.

I feel lost without a pocket knife. I've carried one since I was in elementary school.
