I've handled Piranha (don't recall which model) but while a well made knife, that exact example didnt speak to me. Their reputation had preceeded them, which is why I had my dealer show it to me. My comment about your Pro-tech's possibly not being the best knives in that picture was referring the Piranha.
I love my Pro-techs. I have 3 or 4 now, many others over the years. I'm all about their Custom Steel TR-3s. They take a well designed knife and make it a great tool. My TR3's have always been steel handled.
Just like my firearms, my knives tend to have a bit of "pimp" thing going on. Nice thing about that stainless is how easy it is to bring that mirror finish back after its seen some pocket time. This knife sees a lot of use/carry.

That is a fantastic and well made knife. I have several Applegate designed Gerbers. You are a testament to how well knives in general and Gerber specifically were made back then.I learned as a young boy that you never left the house without a knife and also some means to start a fire. As an adult I added a .357 to the list. For the last 30 years I have carried a 4 inch Gerber, Rex Applegate Combat Folder. Never had to use it in "combat". It is a very rugged well built knife that, in addition to cutting, is often used as a pry bar, hammer, screw driver, ice breaker, leather punch, paint scraper, eating utensil, hole borer, splinter remover and tooth pick. It is always in my pocket on "hot standby" eagerly awaiting its next task.
