I was wondering what others would suggest using in the way of lube for the slide rails. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Almost anything will work. I use Brownells action grease: not too much.

I use clp on everything, the stuff just plain does it all. I have not had a problem in any temperature. Stupid easy to use, clean lube and protect. That said I am sure it all will work fine for you shield.

I just bought a lifetime supply of magic "gun grease" at my local Auto Zone of all places

It was hidden over in the auto lubricant section for some odd reason?

Anyways, it's called Mobile 1 Synthetic grease.

But I put it in some tiny little jars I found on Amazon and then sell it as Tati-Slick 2000!

I'm running a special right now, send me $10.00 for a jar and I'll send you a second one for free!

But hurry, this is a limited time offer!

;)

Oddly enough I did actually see gun lube at a local Napa the other day. I believe it's made by Zepp. Not joking!

I typically use Brownells or Red Head brand. I don't think you could go wrong with any gun lube though.

Since we've had the obligatory Frog Lube reply, I will provide the obligatory Ballistol post. I use it for everything, but, as others have stated, any gun oil will usually do the job.

Mil-Comm/ Me Too

I use Mil-Comm TW25 Gun Grease on the rails of my 1911 used in USPSA matches. After a long stage the gun is very hot with no failures of any kind.

That's what I use too. When any of my guns are new I follow Mil-Comm's instruction/ Clean (with Mil-Comm's cleaner/degreaser) wipe with 91% alcohol and then TW25 on everything. Wipe off and from then on TW25 on the rails and the MC2500 (oil) on the other parts.
Like ball bearings! Can't wipe it or rub it off.

As many others stated; as long as you use something and it's designated for guns, you can't go wrong. There are even other products not meant for guns that will work fine also.

Personally, I use the Gun Cleaner and LPX Oil from M-Pro 7 but notice that the cleaner is a bit too soft. Because of this I use Hoppes solvent in a well ventilated area-this stuffs good and a real solvent, then Safariland CLP, then M-Pro 7 Cleaner and when everything's wiping clean I'll lightly oil the parts in CLP for another five to ten minutes, dry everything up and lube with M-Pro 7 LPX. This is overkill honestly and late model guns will literally run for thousands or even tens of thousands of rounds without a cleaning, but I believe in taking care of my guns and don't mind spending the extra time to clean them well.

My Shield 40 (and all my guns for that matter) just love Frog Lube. Keeps them well lubed, well protected from oxidation, and cleanup after a long day at the range is soooo easy!
