What model is this ?

A friend recently inherited this recently and sent some pictures in an effort to help identify it.

I think it is a 22/32 Hand Ejector.

Any help ?

I believe that's a 22/32 Heavy Frame Target. If you can give us the serial number the experts here can tell you more about the gun.

A couple things to date it either early or late 1930s. The HFT introduced serrated triggers on the I frame with the .22/32 Kit Gun & replaced the .22/32 Target smooth trigger by 1935. Recessed chambers were also introduced in 1935 after a Jan 7, 1935 change order. Can't tell if either features are there with your pictures.

I will guess it shipped between 1937 - 1939.

I don't see a small trademark stamp on the left frame. So, it probably shipped in '38 or '39.

It's a nice one! Looks like an all original finish in very good condition. A bit unusual to have the Regulation Police stocks instead of the standard Target stocks in that period. The RP grips were standard from after WWI to thru mid-1923. Might have been special ordered.

Have him confirm the serial # on the backside of the right grip matches the gun.

The silver medallion puts the stocks in the correct decade for the gun, 1930s, but what does a set of 1930s target stocks look like? Anyone have a picture of 1930s target stocks for a HFT?

Thru the 1930's to the beginning of WWII they look like this with the flat silver medallions shown:

The walnut I frame and Single Shot target grips all look the same from 1891 thru 1957. Only the medallions changed and correspond to date changes for medallions on all models.

1891 - no medallions
1910 - recessed, gold plated over brass
1920 - no medallions
1930 - flush mounted, flat surface chrome plated over brass
after WWII thru 1957 - curved surface, nickel plated over brass
