I got this today at the Jackson, TN gun show. the seller didn't know the model name or number and I didn't see it on the Randall website. it has a 7" blade and is 11 1/2" overall. the handle is a dark green micarta. thanks. lee

It looks like a model 14 to me.

Check out Randall's web site. That should clue you in.

jpage, thanks. it is marked 7 on the back. i'll go back to their website and see what a model 7 is. didn't notice it before. went to the Randall website and it doesn't look like a model 7 to me. looks like a model 1 with the border patrol handle. I remember the seller telling me it was called the border patrol handle. I've napped since then. thanks. lee

Does it have a full exposed 1/4 inch tang along the entire length of the top of the handle? If so, it's a Model 16 with a #1 grind on the blade. Called something like the Model 16 Special Fighter. The difference between it and the Model 1 is that the M1 has a cut-down or stick tang, while the Model 16 Special Fighter has the heavy full tang.

I concur=looks like my #1 except for the handle; an improvement on what many feel is the best fighting knife ever made.

Don't let it sit in the dark==USE IT!

Congratulations!!

It's a Model 1 with Border Patrol handle and looks like nickel silver guard, which Randall calls the hilt.

Normal hilt material is brass on most, but I think NS is worth the added cost.

If, like me, you don't like the dip in the blade spine, just order the knife built on a Model 5 blade blank & hone the false edge if you want it sharp.

Model 7 is very different, a smaller Model 3. I've owned all three and liked all. I also ordered a Model 1 on the Model 5 blade blank, as described.

And I've owned Models 14 and 16. All are good for the needs for which they're designed.

Lee Barner, can you post a photo showing the spine, or topside, of the handle? That will allow a positive ID between a Model 1 and 16.

# 16 special fighter can be ordered with the finger grip, border patrol or single finger handle.single or double hilt also.
