I figured with all the dog lovers on the forum here, Westminster would have been a hot topic! I watched the show with my honey, and I thought the Peke was NOT the best in show! It was real hard to beat that Dobie, and I thought the Setter and the Doxie would have tied for a close second. the Peke wasn't even on my radar screen! Any thoughts?
 
I saw this thread title and the first thought in my head was, "Does this guy know what won???" I'm glad I just read about it. I would have been throwing food and beer at my tv at the end.
 
I agree with your thoughts, I had the Peke last. Hard for me to tell about a dog when you can only see a couple of eyes and a whole lot of hair. First night I thought the German Shepard would win, but last night it didn't move very well at all. In the end I liked the Irish Setter best, even though was rooting for the breeder-owner-handler dog.

BTW, did you know that the judge has 2 Peke's at home.

Queen Boudicca our Golden Retreiver with a real show coat!!! We don't show her. Can't believe a Golden has never won "Best in Show".

I'm a bigger dog type of guy and have owned Rotties and Dobies for the past 37 years. The Dobie, that was bred and owned by its handler, was dead on perfect and deserved the ribbon, hands down! I had the German Shepard second!

If we're talking about the Westminster Show, I was hoping that rescue dog (a Whippet I think) would win. A friend of mine in Jacksonville where I boarded my crazy as a loon Irish Setter owned a Setter that won Westminster twice. McKendree's Bold Venture (yard name Stanley) won in 1975 and '77. Mrs. McKendree let most of her dogs have the run of the yard except when in season. Stanley, however, stayed in the air conditioned office and had his own sofa. He was one of the most beautiful dogs I have ever seen.

They booted Pedigree as a sponsor because of their shelter ads. Eff those people and the inbred hounds they rode in on.:mad:

My wife and I enjoy watching the Show each year. The Working group is our favorite as we have owned Malamutes, Siberians, Newfy's and have been close to others in that group. REAL dogs!

The freakin Pekinese is nothing more than a lap dog...I was rooting for the Doberman #1 and the Shepherd #2. Either Deserving of the BIS far more than that damned dustmop.

I just watched it and can't see the mop end winning it. :rolleyes:

Way to many great looking dogs. The GSd knew how to pose. The Dobie was nice.

The Irish Setter,....I'm ticked. Somebody should lose their shears.:mad: They buggered that dog. Where was the flag on the tail? Where was most of the beautiful flowing coat?

I'm sure Pete knows what I'm saying. His dogs look better.;)
 
I'm missing the like button in this thread. Love that bed shot of your gang, Fishslayer (is that a cat curled up?) and those 2 racers of Louisiana Joe's look like they are having a ball.

Yup. That's Bogie. Our other orange boy is Sam. ;)
That is another whole huge bed to the left but all three have to sleep on one. :rolleyes:
 
I really wish the Westminster elitists had mutt categories too and so do my two rescue mutts from our local Four Footed Friends shelter. Shown here watching the Westminster show a couple years back. Lexxa is Border Collie-Springer-Chow and Murphy is Border Collie-Coon Hound! He makes some of the strangest sounds.

My Gordon Setter is a very serious bird dog. He can work Chuckers at 9,000' in the Rocky Mtns. or Quail down in the low country.:)
