Hi all, new to the forum, as you can probably tell, I opened this thread in the wrong area, anyway, what paint are you guys using to paint the lettering on the M&P slides?? I just bought an M&P Bodyguard .380 and would like to paint the slide. Are you using grease paint, and how does it hold up when carrying?? Sorry for the other thread...
Thanx for the help
Dave

I don't paint the lettering on my pistols, but on my M&P 1522, I used Testor's model paint.....od green, to be exact..Just fill in the letters with the paint and wipe the edges clean with paint thinner.

If you've not decided on a specific color yet, you can experiment with Crayola/China Marker. It can be changed really easily.

As for paint, I use the paint pens found at WalMart's craft section.

I use crayon I like to change color sometimes after a few months if I can ever decide on one I like best then I might use paint.

Someone on here used silver printers ink I liked the look of that alot.

I've had very good luck using automotive touchup paint. I buy the little tubes that have a brush in the cap. Very durable. Usually found at most automotive parts stores in a large display rack. Toyota "Super White II" looks great. Many other colors to choose from.

How do you guys that paint your nails deal with the cleaning solvents?

Not that I'm against personalization but does that improve grip, sight or utility? I'm confused. Why is it done?

I tried the crayon. Did not work well. Did the nail polish. That has worked just fine. Doesn't improve anything. Just adds a little bling.

Doesn't help functionality but neither does many of the decals, fancy bumpers, and other exotic doodads that people put on their trucks and boats. It just personalizes it for that person. If functionality is all you care about by all means don't waste your time, the rest of us will do what makes us happy.

I have a bassmasters decal on the back widow of my truck along with an NRA decal neither one makes my truck drive better but I still like the look of it anyway so that is the same reason I like to color my engraving in on my gun.

Testors enamel paint, Testors paint thinner to wipe off the excess, and then clean it all up with gun cleaner/oil. Works very well.

If you use nail polish, clean up with the nail polish that does not have acetone in it...the acetone can damage some finishes...
