What Powder Now?

I load 2.7 gr Bullseye w/148gr flush wadcutter in My 52-2 for over 35 years. Most accurate load I ever found. Very accurate in My pre 14 also. Shoots 1 inch at 25 yds out of 686, 28, 19, and My 60. functions the 52 perfectly.

I've been playing with CFE pistol lately.
The CFE part of it might be like spitting on a fish and I thumbed my nose at it for this gimicky aspect till early reports came in.
It's sum total where it counts might actually constitute a technological advancement.
This stuff seems to do more with less and still does it well.

Its in the running for a new goto powder at my bench, competing with power pistol and BE-86 as at least a partial replacement for Unique.

Try some.

There are so many powders that work well in .38 that I think it comes down to personal experience. Few of us will be able to tell the difference off-hand at 15 or 25 yds. The same way doctors prescribe the same meds based on what they've always prescribed in the past.

Since I have a lot of Red Dot for shot shells, I started using it in .38 spl loads, and I've got so say, I'm hooked on Red Dot...

I load for a Model 52 and use Promo because it was all I could get at the time. It works well but it is a bit dirty. But then , I like to clean guns anyway.

Thanks for all the comments. The majority seem to think I should wait it out and that W 231 is slowly becoming available. I'll try that, but El Paso is a small city, surrounded by a large desert and the stagecoach only comes through once a week; if they don't encounter hostile indians on the way.

I am shooting titegroup 2.8 grains behind a 148 grain dewc, and cci500 or Remington 1 1/2 primers. I think it works good in my model 14.
