What revolvers do you use as a CCW?

Blasphemous on this forum, but I usually carry my Ruger LCR in .357 with Hornady 125 gr XTPs.

Usually carry revolver, New S&W pro mdl 640, older mdl 640, mdl442 or three inch 65 with bobbed hammer. Also have a couple of 3" 66. One is a "carry comp 3"
Can't go wrong with the J frame for concealed carry and the K frame for belt carry.
Also, regard very highly is Ruger SP101 DOA.

I don't think so Wrench. The question was "what do we carry". I know lots of shooters that carry beat-up, or more economical guns. As long as I know the gun will perform in the time of need, I feel comfortable with it. We have a term for those hand guns......truck-gun.

I carry my 442 full time now but have changed my BUG. I now carry 44 mag mag as a BUG. Now that your scratching your head as to were I conceal that big a revolver It's actually two NAA 22 magnums. Sorry just could not help myself.

In the summertime I carry either a nickel 442 or nickel 38-2, and in the winter a model 60, 64 or a 3 inch 65 unless circumstances dictate a 45 auto.

My first revolver for CCW was a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Spl 5-shot. My next revolver for carry was a S&W Model 37 .38 Spl as BUG while a deputy sheriff. I more recently tried a Colt Detective special but it was too much of a hassle. A full size 4 inch N frame Mountain Gun in .45 ACP either fixed sight S&W 22 or adjustable sight 625 Springfield Armory Commemorative are given some walk about time.

I'm curious as to why the Colt is any more of a "hassle" than a Smith revolver might be?

642 with the longer Crimson Trace grip in a Bell Charter Oak belt slide (see forum member Oldflatfoot) or a Renegade Cozy Partner also bought here in the classifieds.

That ankle holster is the bees knees. Wore it for 10 hrs with absolutely no discomfort. Actually forgot I had it until I crossed my ankle over my knee.

Usually my EDC is my S&W 642 .38 special and every once in a while I will pack my Glock 36 .45 acp

I have a few options. When I was headed for places where The Bad People hang out, I often carried my 686+. It instills a lot of confidence.



If I needed something a little more svelte, this 60-4 carries well, balances perfectly, and shoots like a bigger gun.



When total discretion is called for, the 642-2 gets the nod. In summer it wears a belt clip on the starboard side, and disappears in a pair of shorts near my appendix.



Sometimes a pocket rocket seems like a good idea, and that's when I break out the Ruger SP-101. It's not much fun to shoot with full-house 357 ammo, but with this Pachmayr handle on it, it's better.



This one is too nice to carry a lot but it makes a nice Hibachi Gun. It's too little for a full-blown barbecue gun!



But all those old favorites have some competition these days......I took an old 64-5 security company trade in, slicked it up and got a nose job done on it with the addition of a 3" barrel I got off GunBroker. The trigger is the best work I've ever done, and even my gunsmith was impressed.



These days, the hardest part of my day is figuring out what to wear.......after I get dressed! ;-)

My S&W carry revolvers

I'm lucky in that I can carry a range of revolvers. Wisconsin weather also frequently means more clothing, which increases the choices.
I have a Lew Horton 29-10 I carry in a Galco. A light fleece vest conceals it well.
A 37 with Crimson Trace grips I inherited from my dad.
A 386NG and 386PD, when I can liberate them from my sons.
A 7-shot 520 of 2005.
A 630 and 642 that belong to relatives. They loan them to me when I am visiting but do not want to risk mine in airline checked luggage.

432PD. It has less recoil than a .38spl but with similar ballistics. Best of all it is a J-frame six shooter. I predict that the .32 H&R magnum round will make a big comeback.

I carry the 432PD as well. Same size and weight as the popular .38 airweights but less in the recoil dept. Practice all day with Magtech wadcutters .32 S&W (no recoil at all). Love having the extra round!

My other is a 649 for going to Springfield restaurants and not so nice areas of the valley. I have snake shot for both and frangible .38 ammo for the 649. I carry a pistol if I am not carrying the revolver.

And, maybe a shotgun, or bazooka...just kidding.

LMAO - I carry my 649 when I go into Springfield too! Nice to see another Valley resident here!
