What revolvers do you use as a CCW?

I never carry one of my good guns. If I should have to use the thing in some confrontation away from home and some LEA took it, I do not want to lose it. I carry an IA Rossi M88-2 which I keep well-tuned. You have to get pretty close to it to tell the difference between it and a S&W M60. I have a brother-in-law with a gun in a local sheriff's department lock-up and it's been there for going on 6-years now as the case goes through all the appeals. He'll likely never get that gun back. I'll leave my Smith's at home and will use them on my property if necessary, but not down-town or out of state. If you have to shoot somebody.....do it with a gun you don't care much about.

What he said! I don't want to lose a good gun. So often I carry a glock. I figure they're expendable.

I don't worry about the price of my carry guns. My backside is worth more than any gun I could afford! If they wind up in some evidence locker, while I'm out walking around and breathing and stuff, I figure that's a fair trade. I have a sentimental attachment to some of them, but in the end they're just tools, and most can be readily replaced.

That said, the gun that rides in my car in the 'hood most of the time is a Ruger SR-40, with a spare mag close by. It's totally reliable, holds 15 rounds, I shoot it well despite the goofy trigger, and if I lose it I'll find another one for under $400. ;)

My shouldered holstered redhawks in 44mag. In the summertime it's the 5 1/2" barrel. In the winter it's the 7 1/2" barrel. I like the longer barrel with the bigger hole.

If I dress very lightly it's a security six in 357mag.

I bought an ankle holster for a smaller auto but I haven't tried it yet.

Never go out without a gun it's feels naked without it.

As I sit right now, my summer CCW on my belt is a 2 1/2" 66-2. Come winter, it will be my 4" 586 no dash. Both are loaded with Buffalo Bore 38 SPC +P LSWCHP-GC. An honest 1000 fps round with good penetration.

For me the answer is carry-of-the-day, or more like a week. When I change calibers, I have some logistics to tend to in my holsters, belt, carry bag and speed strips, so I tend to carry the same thing until retiring trousers to the laundry.

Today it's .44 special with a Taurus 441 strong side OWB and a S&W 696 crossdraw car gun. The heavy guns are more comfortable if carrying two to balance out. The 696 is the crossdraw choice because of its more concealable grip with round butt, fancy combats.

There are a number of choices, but my favorites are the .38 Specials, especially western style, Bird's Eye Cimarron Lightnings. That rig would typically be a 3 1/2" Cimarron Lightning crossdraw and a 6" Cimarron Lightning strongside. My circumstances allow the concealment challenge in warm weather. I just wear oversized camp shirts.

My S&W 637 Wyatt Deep Cover lives in my carry bag along with an OWB holster, in case I have to lighten up or improve concealment when out and about.

Thread necromancing alert! :D

But I'll keep stirring the pot.

My CCW revolvers are a 642 as a bug in either my pocket or on my ankle and a 2" model 10 mostly as a belt gun, but sometimes in a pocket as a bug.

I CARRY A 7 SHOT SNUBBY 686, AND A 642 AS A BACK UP, OR BY ITSELF IF I'M NOT WEARING A SHIRT. 2 SPEED STRIPS GIVES ME A COMPLETE RELOAD FOR BOTH GUNS…….

I normally carry my 442 Pro in my front pocket in NC/SC. When in Alaska I CCW my Smith 58 strong side OWB loaded in town with 175gr STHPs but when in the boonies 270gr WFNs.

CD

Work belt guns are Tupperware, but a '70s M60 rides in my pocket when not on the job. I occasionally tote a M10 4" or GP-100 4" on my permit when off-duty when the mood strikes me...

Ok, I'll play. In addition to my autos, I carry the following revolvers:

629 3"
657 3"
66 2.5"
19 2.5"
Victory M&P 2"
36

Just depends on mood, what I am wearing and where I am going.

If I have a .357 on, it has 158gr .38 LSWCHP FBI loads or in some cases .357 158 gr. SJHP depends on how I travel, I like the magnum option if riding the Harley. Just for piece of mind.
Having a J frame along too.

K Frames Rule

I carry a Model 66-4,4" in a Remora IWB holster with a couple of HKS speed loaders. I was at the range the other day and I was the only one shooting revolver. Several others wanted to try my 66 and commented they had never fired a .357 magnum.

I retired my 642 when I found a 640 Pro. I carry it in a Remora IWB holster. The difference in weight is noticable but worth it. :D

Update,
Since my last post on this thread, I've made myself another owb holster. This time it's a pancake style. The nice thing about making holsters is that I can think of something, grab some leather, make it and see how I like it.
