Was just given a Bushnell 3x9 scope for free. What rings would be best to mount it on a Sport II?

One inch tall rings are the right height.

I prefer a one piece mount designed for an AR platform.
This is a Burris PEPR I use.

You need a cantilever ring set like Phil posted. The ocular of the scope should be about even with the rear of the receiver. That allows you to access the charging handle and the eye relief works when you shorten the stock.

You will never see the front sight tower with a scope turned up to 3-4 power. I have a 1-4 on one of mine and the crosshairs are dead centered on the front sight post on low power, kinda like a red dot. It makes acquiring the target faster.

I just got a Sport II and am interested in a 1-4x. What scope did you go with? The front sight doesn't bug you at 1x? Thanks.

I've got an older Leupold 1-4 on one rifle and a 1.5-5 Bushnell Elite on another. I've found that a scope mounted the proper height above the bore will absolute co-witness with the front sight like a red dot, so the front tower doesn't bother me. If it bothers you, use a 3-9 scope. You won't see the tower.
