I've been lurking around for a while looking for tips for my 442, and after searching and reading for a while, I realized the a revolver with a lock would not due for concealed carry. So I began my search for a light weight J frame without a lock to carry. I recently bought a 337 from a member on this board. While waiting, I found out S&W were making 4000 or so 642-1s, so I bought one of those also. Now I have 2 very good carry guns in new and very good condition, but don't want to destroy the value of the either of them. My plan is to carry one and put the other in the safe. My question is which one would you carry and which one would you put up? thanks.

What are you gonna do it that would "destroy" the value of your gun? They are made to shoot. Guns are a terrible investment considering the return on your money. I carry a no lock 642 daily and it serves me well.

just carry it, but one day it will show signs of wear. I just want to put up the gun that would hold its value more rather than carry and lessen the value. I do plan to shoot both, but I'm not carrying both. Maybe destroy was the wrong word.

Shoot em both, and carry the one you can hit with best. I am guessing the 642 will become the carry gun, even though the 337 is lighter. I have a 3" 337-1 and with +P loads it definitely gets your attention when you touch it off. Those final couple of ounces shaved off seem to make a big difference in recoil, or maybe it's just me being an old fart, and not getting any younger.

I would carry the 642.
