What to do with a full size M&P jamming

I have a TRP and can almost put a bowl down on the floor to catch the brass.

I had a couple go back over my head today. Think I'll bet the Apex extractor as soon as I get the extra $$.

Comparing it to a finely tuned 1911 is maybe a bit unfair. :)

A standard 1911 using the internal extractor? My Colts are reliable as can be expected for any 1911, but their ejection patterns are also typical Colt, meaning up, forward, right or back. I don't try to "tune" the ejectors anymore.

My SW1911, with its external pivoting extractor, is a bit more consistent. ;)

I remember in boot camp getting rained on by the brass. Those 1911's would throw brass in every direction.

I put the Apex extractor in a couple of weeks ago. I was approaching the 15000 round mark and started thinking about an extractor failure in the middle of a match. I think the pattern is a little tighter where the brass lands but I didn't actually measure the before and after. The original extractor still looked good so I stuffed it in my range bag as a spare.

Extraction and ejection can be a funny thing. My M&P .45 is really quite consistent in where it throws the casings when using my reloads. However, factory ammo is more random.

My 1911 Commander throws brass all over the place. My RIA 1911 5" is quite consistent no matter what ammo I use.

I really don't care where the brass goes as long as it is ejected. I currently have no ejection issues with any of my handguns.

Those extra parts come in handy.

I've run a significant amount of rounds through all the mags without any problems.

It's now my everyday carry in a R.C. Lean holster. I also have a Nightengale holster.

Nice to have 11 rounds of 230 grain goodness available.

Oh yea, the mag springs I ordered in August showed up last week.

Good to hear. Are you using the Apex Extractor ?

Not yet. Fridge blew up, shortly followed by the freezer. Then a side of beef fell in our lap for a good price.

Apex is somewhere in the near future.
