What to do ?

Okay fellow enablers.
I have 5" 629
4" 686
Looking at a 90-95 percent 65-5 ladysmith with case. There asking $995 was thinking to offer $850 my top bid. Or should I save a lil more for one of the new mountain guns.
Don't really need any of these but do not have a 65 or any mountain gun.
What say you guys ?

Ifmy memory serves me, I'm thinking the 65-5 Ladysmith is a 3" barrel round butt. Kind of like this one I own:



These are great guns. You don't see too many with round butt and 3" barrel. Depending on the condition, $850 sounds about right. I like the older Smiths; this one is from the 80's.

$995 is high but three inch 65s always go for a premium. The Ladysmiths even more. With box, papers, etc $995 isn't crazy money. I don't know that I would pay that, but I would think long and hard. I can't remember the last 65 Ladysmith I saw.

I say save a little and get a new Mountain Gun, but then I am 100% biased. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The 3 inch barrel really drives the prices of the 65-5 Ladysmith's these days.

The "Ladysmith" also has a shrouded ejector rod like the Model 66.

Ended up getting the model 65. Came with extra grips and original bag. Now have to do some weekend work for a mountain gun.

I was going to cast a late vote for the 65 and I see that you already bought it.

You made an excellent choice. All you need now is a BK Grip Adapter and it will be perfect. It is good to have things to look forward too. The 686 Mountain Gun has a lot of early promise.
