The other day I was picking up some ammo, and saw this extremely clean, almost new looking CS40 on the lowest used gun rack. Gun still had the S&W paper wrap, and I know it at least had two owners has it had a hand written bill of sale to an individual from 2001.

Wasn't particulary in the market for a 40, but as a retired fire chief I thought the idea of a "chief's special" would be fun. They were asking 450, and I said make it 400 and I'd consider it. They went for it and for what ever reason I took it. Not sure what I'll do with it, but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Wow, what a fantastic deal on a great little gun! If you can't think of a use for it, I sure can! ;) Be sure to let us know how it shoots when you get a chance, please.

The Chief's Special series are in demand and hard to find...sounds like you made a great deal. Now just need to add a set of "Big Dog" grips to it..

Well, since you are in Utah and I'm in Texas, "that sounds like what a Chief would do"... now I'm running and ducking for cover.. cause my Chief could throw a boot around corners... he beaned me when I just knew I was in a safe zone... Good buy, even for a Chief.

Sir, Enjoy your find. I never wanted to move into the .40 realm... already do too many in the stable... I ran across a "police trade in" at a good price and it "fell into my pocket"... That's my story and I'm stickin' to it... so the better part of valor was to pay for the silly thing cause I kinda liked the store owner... It wound up being a favorite carry, truck, stuff gun. Best Wishes, Still peepin' from around the corner...

Sounds like you would fit in to my department! Normally it was I who usaully had to watch what was around the corner... good group of people working for me.

I wasn't smart enough to stay retired and was talked into coming back to work for another department responsible for thier wildland fire program- Fire Warden for two counties. These guys are also great to work with.

As far as the pistol, I'm serious considering the Big Dog grips as an after christmas present to myself.

The "Big Dog" grips are a great addition to a fine pistol..

What a great buy DV . I have the CS in 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP. They are great little pistols. Accurate and reliable. You will grow to love them. Let us know what you think after you have fired it.

Should you decide you made the wrong choice make sure you put it up for sale here on the forum, I'm sure you would get more than enough takers.
Happy Holidays.

Fine looking pistol! I'll stand in line to extoll the virtues of the BigDog grips. I got some for my CS45, and they're as good as you've
probably already heard. Doesn't seem to affect recoil, either.
Great buy on your part, happy shooting! TACC1
