What was the First Gun you purchased for yourself?

Hey feral,

If you research the history of the two-stroke engine, CZ was pretty important in the development of the design.

In addition to the CZ motocross bikes I mentioned...I also had a 1972 (?) CZ-175 Street/Trail.

Weird thing about that bike...the gear shifter was also the kick-starter!

Pretty neat, feral. Thanks. I love old bikes. That kinda reminds me of a Harley Hummer.

I just googled this one...

Guess I'd better quit hijackin' the thread.

well, my first guns were a marlin model 60 22 and a new england firearms break barrel 410 bought by my mom and dad when I was five, unfortunatly those plus my remington 870 got lost by my mom when she didn't pay the pawn shop in time. my own firsts was a norinco sks with a side folding stock and detachable 30rd mag for 250$, my first semi auto was a S&W sw99 in 40sw for a tattoo, and my first revolver was a S&W model 15-2 also for a tattoo. I still have them all and use them often......ammo permitting

Nothing until I got a lot older, then,

Rifle: Remington Model 700 7mm magnum with a blackened stainless barrel, B&L scope with Beuhler mount. Love at first boom.

Pistol: Makarov 9X18mm. Accurate and dependable.

Then I caught the bug and bought a safe for the rest to follow....

Rifle: Marlin 39 still have and have killed everything from deer to turkeys with this.

Revolver: S&W 28 6", Don't use much has one deer to its credit.

Shotgun: Remington 31, sold in a moment of weakness.

Auto: Colt 1911, made in 1917. Unfortunately butchered somewhat to use in USPSA matches.

I bought my first shotgun, a High Standard 20g pump when I turned 16. I bought my first revolver when I graduated High School, a Model 66 no-dash snubnose that I still own.

First firearm was a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington, which sometimes failed to fire. I had sent it back to the factory more then once over a several year period, and eventually it came back with a new barrel. (I knew that right away because the new one had the warning text on it and the original did not.) Dispite that beginning I ended up with a modest collection of Marlins and still have that first rifle (from 1971) and half a dozen others. Years later I decided to buy my first handgun and happened to start looking about the time S&W came out with the L frames. Bought a first year 6" 686 which I still have and still shoot often. Then walked into a gun shop and saw a shorter barrel and matte finish gun that I brought home. Years later, with the advent of forums like this, I recognized it as the desirable 686 CS-1. Still own and shoot that one also.

A H&R model 900 nine shot .22 cal revolver groove type rear site. Bought it with summer job money about 1965. It's not a great gun but I had lots of fun shooting it and still plink with it once in a while.

I think it was a M1900 Iver Johnson. I know it was a little fixed frame, nickle plated, 7 shot 22. I was probably 13 when I bought it at a flea market. Second I remember was a H&R top break 32 hammerless that I bought in my 8th grade History class.

It was a 1888 Trapdoor Springfield with ramrod bayonet. Bought it in 1967. I was 10 years old and paid it off $5 per week for 9 weeks. A lot of lawn mowing back then. Still have it and take it out and shoot it.
