What was the last NEW S&W you bought and when did you buy it?

The last new one was a 642. It seems like I've had it forever and can't really recall the year I bought it.

The last brand new one was a 586 no dash I bought in 1982. After its second trip back to the factory along with a very nasty letter, they finally got it right and its one of the best shooting .357s that I own.
I haven't bought a brand new S&W since.

New? As in New from a store? This past Thursday. A M&P 380. Before that a S&W 617-4 back in the 90's
ops-forgot that I bought an M&P 9 about 3 years ago.

It was a Model 28 for $125.00 in 1973. I sold that one and replaced it two years ago for $400.00. I was a student in 1973 and earned $7500 for the year. Shot a lot of surplus .38 in those days. A friend's dad had bought 5 1903 Springfield A3 rifles and he wanted me to buy one for $25.00 but I was too tapped out from buying the M 28.

I've never purchased a new S&W.

My first S&W was a .38 S&W Victory Model.

The last I purchased was an ex-NYPD .38 Special M&P from R.M. Vivas.

All of my S&Ws are classic pre-lock guns.

It is not beyond the realm of possibility that I might purchase an M&P Shield, should I ever have meaningful employment again.

1996 - I bought a 640-1 for carry. I was never impressed with it - it just didn't feel like a Smith. I prefer older Smiths.

1994, a 629 Classic 8 3/8", $525.

1983, a nickel 3" Model 13. A friend who had an FFL, and rented a house from me, ordered it out of Shotgun News, J&G, I think. It was most of rent that month. Even after years under the seat of cars and trucks, it still looks great.

I bought a new model 10 back around 1980. Used guns fit my meager budget now.



update: Did I mention that I HATED to let it go. I was in awe of the fit and finish and just liked to hold it, feel it and look at it.

9mm Shield about a year ago. The first and last new wood and steel was a 6" 586 some 25 years ago.

Just last Sunday I bought a brand new 442, no lock. Great little gun, excellent fit/finish, good action, perfect for it's selected role.

These are the only 3 S&Ws I've bought new (9c, 442, 9 Shield). I got the 9mm Shield shortly after their release almost 2 years ago. It is my newest.
