What was your first gun?

I can't remember now whether it was a Mossberg 20 ga bolt action, or a Marlin 336 30-30. I let the Mossberg get away in a trade for a Marlin 120 12 ga, and both of those Marlin's are in the care of my oldest now.

I paid a friend of mine in a face to face transaction 15 bucks for a H&R Young America .22 seven shot revolver, in NJ of all places. And was able to buy .22 shorts in the hardware store with no questions asked. I was probably 14 years old at the time. Great little fun plinker. Wish I still had it.

The first gun I ever owned was a Remington Nylon 66. I seem to remember the color being called "Apache Black". I sold it in a pawn shop in Tampa and I've always regretted it.

Glenfield model (52?) single shot .22 with a cocking knob. Recently found the original hang tag off it priced at $23.50.
I was so proud of that thing.

Walther PP, 7.65mm. A WWII bringback, given to me when I was twelve by a family friend who had taken it from a German officer "who no longer needed it." It still had the late owner's name penciled inside the flap of the holster. It was in beautiful condition.

What was his name ?

Ruger 10/22. I sold it to help pay for my wife's ring before we got married. Luckily Ruger's made so many of them that I was able to replace it with one just like it.

Not counting BB/Pellet Guns,my first was an M-1 Carbine I bought to give to my dad-but still had not finished paying it off when he passed away. I wwas able to pay it off 6 months after beccause I wasnt able to think of it for awhile and the seller was nice enough to understand. Anyway, that Carbine--was a very nice one and I loved taking it to the range.

My first was a Crosman 760 Pumpmaster BB gun in 1973. My first "real" gun was a Marlin 336c 30-30 in 1978. My first handgun was a Stainless Ruger Security Six in 1981.

I bought all new myself because no one in my family was into guns or hunting.

64 years ago my Grandfather presented me with a WINCHESTER model 74 .22 automatic. I was almost 8 at the time. Remember those greased/lubed. 22s that were guaranteed to keep your pockets free of lint? I still have it today. My Grandson and I shot it not long ago.

Mossberg 500 pump shotgun in 12 gauge. I was 12 yrs. old and I still have it, though it hasn't been fired in over 20 years.

My 10th birthday in 1968. Dad bought it used for $40 from Mikey's gun shop in Queens NY. I loved going to the basement shop he ran out of his house. What a character...I remember he was quite old and had a funny lisp and a oddly shaped index finger that was deformed from a firearm related accident. I also got my first pistol from him in 1977 after becoming a fan of "Starsky and Hutch"...almost got a 59 but Mikey showed me the Browning Hi-power and it was love at first sight. Still have both.

Mine was the same rifle, the Christmas of my 10th year, 1967. Except mine is brown plastic and blued.

Mine, (along with my older brothers), was a J.C. Higgins single shot 20 gauge that kicked like a mule. I have no idea whatever happened to that one, I'm sure Dad swapped it in on something. Then, when I was 14 or 15, Dad fell in love with a used 20 gauge O/U, that didn't fit him. I became his excuse to buy it. His instructions were, "It's YOUR shotgun, but it stays on MY wall"; along with "Don't tell your mother what I paid for this". Over the years, I had to put a recoil pad on it to get the LOP back out to something I could still shoot. When Dad passed I got it and it currently resides in my safe. Made by Fias (IIRC), 28" tubes fixed (IC/MOD) and a very pretty stick of claro walnut :). It doesn't get much use since I mostly hunt ducks anymore, and the thought of dragging it through the mud, silt & slime makes me ill.

Mine was a Mossberg 715t. Thing was a jamomatic piece of junk. Sold it within a few weeks and got myself an M&P 15-22. I loved that gun but I traded it for a 1911 a while back which I still have. I love the 1911 equally as much but I still miss the 15-22 and being able to go to the range for hours and shoot hundreds of rounds. Gota get myself another one soon.

Red Ryder... then I waited for just the right gun to come along and 46 years later I picked up a M&P 9 FS, man oh man.... it was worth the wait! :D

If you include BB guns, it was a Daisy Model 25 pump I got for Christmas one year. The first firearm that was actually mine was a 16 ga. H&R single shot "Topper" model I purchased when I was 18. I bought it in 1967 with money from one of my first paychecks from Delta. Walked into the K-Mart on Cleveland Avenue in Atlanta bought the gun and walked out with it. Not long after that I bought a used .38 Spcl. from a co-worker.
