What was your first Smith and Wesson??

It was a 32 caliber snubby that I got somewhere between 1965 and 1968. Have no idea what model that was or much about it except it was a bitch to shoot. I suspect that was because of the short barrel and the long/hard D/A trigger pull.....until then my only experience was with a 1911 we shot during navy boot camp. Don't remember much about it, not sure what I did with it; either sold it or gave it away.
Came a long way since then, buying, selling, trading you know how it goes. Now in my late 70s I have a couple full size 9s, two or three 357s, a few 380s, a 22 or two. My favs are Smith in the revolvers, I like all the semis; have a springfield, rock, beretta etc.

My first was a new Model 60, purchased from the gun shop I worked at while a part time college student in 1967. That one got away some years ago, but it has been replaced by one I carry often.

Nickel model 36. Not actually purchased, but was awarded for top honors in my police academy. Purchased many more since.

Model 19-3. I had to sell it when I got divorced and my ex-wife ended up buying it. Imagine that, she had extra money and I had to sell it because I needed the money. Fortunately, she sold it back to me years later. I think it cost me twice what she paid for it but, fortunately, I got it back and still have it.

Model 19-2 4" blue in box with everything. 100.00 + 4.25 tax.
Of course this was 1972. I was 16 and my mom not only trusted me, but also did the paperwork on it.
And it was missing the i the the Smith and Wesson on the R side of the pistol where it says Made in USA SM TH & WESSON.
Like most one time-or another, I was short on cash and a friend load my 150.oo he was going to hold the gun.
So I could get it back, but a month later I took him the money and he had sold my gun.
I was heart broken but it was water under the bridge at that point.
99% of all handguns I have owned since then Have been S&W's.
Now days I only have a few but I have always been a S&W guy. Here's the Smith Sisters as I call them.

586, 6" barrel, with holster, original walnut grips, plus Pachmyr grips. Bought at a gun show in Knoxville from an individual. Bought about 1988, believe it was an early 80s model.

My first S&W was the Model 28-2 my Dad gave me when I was 14. Thanks to Dad I was able to add a 36-1, K-22 and a 10-5 by the time I graduated high school.

The first S&W I purchased on my own was a brand new .45 Colt 625-6 Mountain Gun in 1996. It was $425, which was most of the money in my checking account at the time.

I still have all of those revolvers.

She made you pay.

TWICE!
Isn't it always the way....

My first S&W Revolver was a 19-4 given to me by my father when he found out he didn't have much time left here on earth. He had retired then decided he couldn't sit around doing nothing, so he got his license and drove an Armored Car for 9 years and carried this every day. I'll admit its finish was very worn when I got it so after 2 years of shooting it pretty regularly, I sent it out to be re-blued and tuned. I got a S&W case and the S&W trinkets to go in the case. I still shoot it occasionally but soon I'll hand it down to my son.

My first S&W was a model 66 (no dash) produced in 1976, paid $225. The local sheriff's department had ordered 25 and the dealer handing that transaction got one for me as well. I still have it, I have the original grips and box etc. It is currently wear a pair of Nill grips. Love that revolver! I have 17 handguns total 8 are S&W, three Smiths have been modified by Jim Stroh, which makes them special to me as well.

My first was a 3 inch M36 I bought back in early 80's. I gave it to my daughter a couple of years ago when there was some demonstratiion stuff in Ashland, Or. going on. I miss the revolver, but it went to a good home and cause.

The first one I bought was through the police academy in 1966, a 4" Model 19-2; however, I didn't receive it until the weekend before graduation. During the last month of the academy, I bought my second gun, a 2" Model 10 from my LGS which I was able to receive right away, so it became the first gun I possessed. I can assure you I have had many Smiths since then.
