What was your first?.

First handgun I ever bought....Dan Wesson 357 with a vent/heavy 6 inch barrel. Wanted a Python but couldn't afford it.

Mine was also .357 mag.
Dad did the 4073 on a S&W model 19 nickle 6" barrel
for me when i was 16.
I shot the heck out of that thing. Mostly without hearing
protection (why i'm deaf now).
I never shot anything but store bought full house .357's
out of that gun as this was before i got into reloading.
I did not experience any flame cutting or forcing cone issues
with this k-frame either.
Probably my favorite all time wheel gun.
Wish i still had it.

Iver Johnson .22 nine shot. It may have been called a double 9 but I aint sure. It belonged to my Mom and she was left handed. Dad ordered it for her and it had left hand grips, meaning that it had this big protrusion sticking out of the right side grip. Thumb rest I suppose. Hey, it shot and tha't all I cared about back then. I think I was 8 or 9 at the time.
Peace,
gordon

1851 Colt Navy 36 cal / built from a kit. Found out why the war between the states took four years.......they had to reload.
A Johnny Cash song references it. FIRST GUN I HAD WAS A CAP AND BALL COLT, SHOOTS FAST AS LIGHTNING BUT LOADS A MIGHT SLOW.

Ruger super single six was next. 22 cal

First one ever was given to me by my dad - Colt Peacemaker .22LR with extra .22 Mag cylinder.

First one I ever bought for myself was a Colt Officer's ACP (Stainless) in .45 Auto.

.22 LR. Dad bought a Ruger Mark I when I was 12, and taught me to target shoot with it. All us kids were taught with that little semi-auto. My brother still has it, and his kids have shot it.

The instant I turned 21 I bought a brand new 28-2 357. I still have it and it plays surrogate father to several other S&W's that have joined the family.

My first handgun was a "freebie" guy at the local gun range was going to toss it into the dumpster. I got to him first and he just wanted to get rid of it. Saur 38H with its original holster. really nice shape. Took a long time before I could find a couple 38H magazines for it. Wait don't go away. Guy I worked with wanted a small semi auto and he had a 1943 Ithaca 1911A1 in nice shape plus a cigar box full of ammo. So we swapped. Then when I retired and moved to Louisiana and joined a gun club I shot steel plate matches with it. 230 grain hard cast bullets mixed vintage and head stamped cases. Still have it and occasionally use it to shoot snakes when cutting the grass. Frank

First

My first 2 guns were a Colt trooper 357 and a Ruger Blackhawk 357, that I bought when stationed @ Ft. Wainwright Alaska, outside of Fairbanks. We were told to carry @ least a 357 when fishing because of the bears .

S&W Model 29 44mag. Bought it in '78, still have it. Took it out last week, still makes the X ring disappear.
