What were they thinking with this 327 TRR8

That does have an Escape from New York ring to it.

I though it was an AR revolver, But I didnt see a bipod on it.

I just bought one that is almost identical to that. Mine is the 327 M&P R8. It has a built-in rail under the barrel shroud and comes with a removable upper rail, 8 round cylinder and 3 moon clips. It doesn't come with the light or optics. It is a sweet shooting PC gun though. My first one of those. I don't think I'll ever storm a building being held by bad guys with it. I just think it looks badass and will probably be kind of collectable in 20-30 years.

You could put a BiPod on it if you like, We ordered one for a guy and its not my cup of tea.

I agree, it *does* look a bit like something The Duke of New York would have!
I bought one last May, my first wheelgun, and it's a _very_ nice gun. More accurate than I am, nicely balanced, and a joy to shoot. I primarily bought it for my girlfriend to use at the range, but I really enjoy using it, too.

Originally, the 327TRR8 was made up in answer to a request by NYPD, I believe, for a high cap revolver that could be carried by EMS entry teams, especially the guy up front with the bullet resistant shield, as they found that in firing, all too often ejecting cartridges from the Glock 19s bounced right back into the ejection port jamming the pistol, requiring two hands to clear when one hand was carrying the shield. The revolver S&W came up with for them is a great solution, although I do not know if NYPD bought any after S&W went to the trouble.

I played with one in the funshop. The gold front bead works well, and I could see it as a nice carry gun, after removing the rails. Too bad it has that infernal lock. 8 rounds of .357 goodness makes it OK for a carry gun, IMO.

I thought it was the gun to close to the shield, slide hits shield, short cycling, turning gun into club. Not good for the first guy thru the door. It seems like just the thing with a laser/light combo and 8 rounds!

I just picked up my M & P R8 on Saturday. Mounted my burris fast fire mini red dot sight on top rail...very small sight and it looks great. I also put on my laser max rail mount laser to the bottom. I most likely will not leave this on when target shooting but it fits and looks great.

The only thing I can't figure out is why S&W decided to produce two so similar guns. The differences between the TRR8 and the M&P R8 are pretty few. Any insights?

Anyone try to work the light switch with the support hand while firing the gun? It could get very interesting.

Shhhhhh! Don't want to give the anti-gunners any ideas!

It reminds me of the gun that Bill Murray has in Caddyshack with the flashlight taped to the barrel.

FREEZE GOPHER!!!!
