What will happen in CT?

This article today on Townhall. com (The ?Assault Weapon? Rebellion - Townhall Magazine) says that the state government has little power to enforce their gun registration law. I guess I am less optimistic. The numbers of State Police versus the number of citizens who have failed to register their "assault weapons" or high capacity magazines is not the issue. Should two or three LEO's show up at the door of a suspected non-registrant, I doubt that few if any will resist with violence. This is not the same as when British troops tried to seize stores of guns and powder in pre-revolutionary America. While obviously the state government cannot swoop down on all of the "offenders" at once, they can pick off the non-compliant citizens one by one and my guess is that most will submit without a fight. Maybe I am wrong, and maybe the state will be forced to reconsider their draconian anti-2nd Amendment laws. Only time will tell.

They need to violently resist next election. If all of those upset by this voted against those that brought this to them, the problem will go away.

The CT government (liberals), could not survive all of the negative publicity of otherwise law-abiding citizens being hauled away in handcuffs by masked SWAT officers on TV every night. Teachers, grandparents, doctors, housewives, etc... -- I would also hope that all of those arrested and charged would hire lawyers and ALL OF THEM demand trials. It would stop the CT criminal justice system in its tracks!

Nothing.

Locally, there was recently a law enacted prohibiting junk vehicles in peoples' yard. Also, in Tennessee, we have a leash law.
I've yet to see a dog picked up in my neighborhood, and junk vehicles still adorn as many lawns as ever.

The state isn't going to do anything - they'll just arrest people whenever circumstances give law enforcement probable cause to believe an owner did not remove his mean looking rifle from the state. Hopefully those circumstances won't present themselves before CT citizens can get those whacked-out politicians out of office. BTW, this is a good youtube video to watch if you've never seen it:

They busted a 65-year-old guy in Milford, CT already. He was dumb enough to be shooting squirrels (not with an "assault" weapon), in a residential neighborhood, and they got him on the AWB as well as bunch of other charges:

Vito, I think you're spot on.
All the outsiders screaming that CT residents should resist should go there and stand, armed, on the front steps of anyone who is being arrested.
The police know better than to make an assault on everybody at once, a la Lexington and Concord. Pick 'em off one by one. As others see the legal consequences of resistance - felony convictions - they'll back off and try the courts again.
Face it, CT residents willing to resist are far outnumbered by residents who support the infringements. It'll be a long, expensive and tough fight.

I'm sure when they have a chance to find what they claim as illegal items they will make a few examples with substantial penalties. They won't go to houses but when they find the item outside, range, vehicle check, etc. Then the masses will subside. It won't end until the officials are vote out and common sense is restored.

As gregintenn posted-there are cultural traditions in some locales that would defy enforcement. For instance, junk cars in Tennessee yards would be hard to do away with, but in Georgia, you're talking about a way of life!!!

I don't live in CT or NY, but my impression is that there are far more anti than pro gun voters in the state. Makes it pretty tough to vote them out when they are giving the majority of the state exactly what they want.

I agree and think this is the problem. It may not even take 2-3 LEO's. If someone thinks they are about to be arrested, lose their gun rights completely they are more likely to cooperate. It is the nature of the L(aw)A(biding)C(itizen). We use this as part of our defense.

All the law needs to do is attack one at a time. It wouldn't be long before word gets out and others surrender just out of fear. The LEO's know that too.

Know matter how right you may be if it is going to cost you - you may make different decisions about your future.

I refuse to spend money with any business or travel to CT,MA,NY & RI. and that includes a lay over. I will fly 35,000 feet above them for now to visit NH, VT and Maine.

There is hope that Daniel Malloy will not get re-elected as Govenor. He was at a Memorial Day Parade in West Hartford and was booed.

He will not make a second term. He is very much dis-liked in this State for MANY reasons.

The question will be if the new Govenor has the Guts to do what is right.

ALSO - this is going to make its way to higher courts. The fight is in process.

This is not over yet. Not by a long shot.

I think I would say, "Not Quite", I think the issue is that there are far more anti-gunners that VOTE than Pro 2nd amendment voters.

Unfortunately Conservatives have been extremely poor at showing up to vote the last few elections. THAT is the real issue IMHO.
