I'm looking to change out the springs in my 4516, and wanted to hear some forum input. First off, i'm looking to keep in really dependable, sans light primer strikes. This is one of my two home defense weapons, so I need to go *bang* when needed.

What Wolff springs weights should I consider in certain areas. Also, is there a way to remove the take up when in single action, aside from a trigger job?

thanks!

Doug

PS: I went to the range today, and had a ball firing 158 grain lead .38 specials out of my new GP100. It was relaxing and was a real pussycat. When transitioning back to the 230g JHPs in the 4516 however, it was a different feel entirely. gotta' love the firm recoil baby!

I'm very high on Wolff springs, but you might want to try a fresh factory mainspring (part number 069740000) and give the firing pin channel a good scrubbing. FWIW

Good luck.

I've used the 18# hammer spring with good results. I always replace the recoil spring along with it. If you have the dual spring setup you'll need to use factory springs, Wolff doesn't make the dual setup. There is no easy way to remove the takeup.
