My preferred .32 is a Walther PP in .32 ACP.

The .32 ACP takes a bigger hit than even the .380 ACP in shorter barrels. However the 3.9" barrel of the PP is sufficient to launch a 60 gr XTP at 1000 fps. At that velocity it will expand nicely and penetrate about 13". You also have 8 plus 1 rounds in the PP.

75 gr cast bullets are also popular as a self defense load but they will not expand regardless of velocity and over penetrate, 27" in this case.

75 gr cast flat point (top) and Hornady 60 gr XTP (bottom.

If deep conceal isn't a problem anything that shoots 327 mag is gonna be a winner. Otherwise, I go to an I-frame or the equivalent or the little stowaway kel-tek with clip.

So many .32s, so little time....

What's the story on your US Property marked Model M? I've got one too, and since it's my only .32 caliber handgun, I suppose it would be my first choice in that caliber for defense. Mine belonged to my stepdad, he carried it in WWII.

I pocket carry my Model 31-1 in a GALCO pocket holster. I used a reamer to extend the chamber length to accommodate the .32 Magnum and that's what it's loaded with.

If someone is horrified by the fact that I pocket carry an exposed hammer revolver, I will note that I have practiced hundreds of pocket presentations and have never managed to get the hammer to snag on the draw. Not even once.

That's my experience. Other people may have different results due to differences in presentation, hand size, pocket size, etc.
