What would you consider to be the top 5, must have, S&W revolvers.............

Model 10
Model 17
Model 36
Model 28
Model 27
and a Model 29 for those really bad days where nothing but a big bang will do.

1. Model 60 snubbie
2. Model 64 4 inch HB (for practice)
3. Model 65 4 inch HB (end of the world gun)
4. Model 29 6 inch
5. S&W .22 "kit" gun (I forgot the model#)

Mod 18 4in
Mod k38 6in
Mod 66 2.5in
Mod 24 3in
Mod 1917 5.5in cut to 4
I got to pack 'em

For me, I would think these 5 would make for the basis of a well-rounded collection.

A M&P or Model 10
A Model 34 kit gun
A Model 27 or 29 - a big N frame
A Model 36 or 60 - a J frame snubby.
A K-38 or Model 14

Everyone should own a top-break as well, since they look so good.

1. A american have
2. triplelock have
3. K-22 want
4. M&P got
5. A chief got

No specific models or barrel lengths, but, considering the past 111 years:
Any list of the essential S&Ws HAS to include the M&P/Model 10. Not fancy, not rare, it just made the company in the 20th century.
Other essentials would be:
N-frame .357 - the first magnum
N-Frame .44 magnum - obvious
J-frame .38 - the ubiquitous pocket heater - carrying the company into the 21st century.
K-Frame .22LR - timeless classic.

My 5 favorite?

My 5 favorite revolvers would be:

Model 13 4 inch blue 357 magnum
Model 681 4 inch stainless steel 357 magnum
Model 58 4 inch blue 41 magnum
Model 547 4 inch blue 9mm
Model 60 3 inch stainless steel 38 special

I just love fix sighted pistols. Of the above, I have with me the 681, and a 10-6 in 357 magnum, which later became the Model 13.

K22 6"
m10-5 4" tapered
m14-4 8-3/8"
29-2 8-3/8
m57 4"

Gee we must be on the same page as I currently own 4 of your top 5 and had number 5 a no dash Model 57 in 4 inch and traded it for a 4 inch 29-2.

Im new to the game, but I'll play:
19 4" (have)
681 (incoming)
14/K38 (want list)
27/28 3.5" (want list)
34 4" (want list)

Of course the actual want list is quite a bit longer...

Model 19-2/3 4"
Model 66-1 4"
Model 27-2 5"
Model 28-2 4"
Model 686-1 4"
It is tough to go beyond 2 to narrow it to 5, but all within the 357 mag range

617 4" w/ 10 shot cylinder. Field gun that shoots better than I do. If you want a K22 that is cool. Same thing except I can replace mine easily and I don't worry about using it under rough conditions.

Airweight Centennial or Bodyguard - light weight carry gun. Nuff said.

4" or 6" .357 of whatever flavor you choose. I like N frames so a 27 or a 28. Could just as easily be a 19 or a 686. This is for target shooting and for things that go bump out in the back yard.

3" or 4" big bore (.44 Spec / Mag / .45 ACP / .45 Colt) Concealed carry big bore

5" or longer big bore (.44 Spec / Mag / .45 ACP / .45 Colt) Hunting / open carry in field where permitted.

Christmas is around the corner if someone wants to send me a care package.
