What would you consider to be the top 5, must have, S&W revolvers.............

Prefacing with the idea that my top 5 are "shooters", not "collectors", I'll list my top five as being:

Model 66
Model 63
Model 686
Model 60
Model 617

Barrel lengths as per one's personal preference.

Naturally, being "my" fave five, I have all of them. I'm real partial to stainless for pistols I shoot. ;)

K 22

53

Oh, sorry you said you wanted 5. I have a problem your honor, I have this addiction and I just can't stop. Please, what ever you do, don't lock me up in that room with all of my S&W's. I just can't stand being there.;)

1. 3 inch Model 36 round butt
2. 4 inch M29 - duty gun
3. 8-38 inch .22 Magnum, blued
4. 6 inch M29 - "Dirty Harry"
5. one of the new titanium or polymer framed hammerless .357 snubs

Stainless guns preferred for ease of maintenance, but I like the look of blued guns, esp. S&W's bright polished blue.

the 5th one has 2 options: an M&P /model 10, or a Model 686

You guys and gals have given me quite a list of favored Smith and Wesson Revolvers to sort through. I have been humbled by the number of "Reads" and responses. I haven't forgotten to compile the information and see what we might learn as a group. Been very busy lately but I haven't forgotten it. I should be able to start over the weekend to start the official count but keep adding in the mean time if you wish. Thanks.

1. 27-2
2. 66 or 19
3. 686 or 586
4. 29-5 Classic DX
5. Any variation of a model 10.

And no locks please.

In order or importance! (at least in my mind)
Model 28-2
Model 10
Model 15
Model 17
and a Model 29

I would add a 27 if it were the top 6.. but then where woudl it end. a Model 36 for the top 7? lol

top 5

#1. 29 4 inch// at least 1 more is better :-)
#2. 29 silouette// scary accurate!
#3. 27 3 1/2 - 4inch
#4. .500 Magnum/doesnt matter what lengh
#5. K22-m17 6inch

From largest to smallest:

Model 29 - 6.5"
Model 27 - 5"
Model 19 - 4"
Model 13 - 3"
Model 36 - 2" (approximately)

Obviously, many similar guns could serve as substitutes, such as stainless variants, etc. If I were to add a sixth, it would be a Model 17 6" I guess.
