What would you consider to be the top 5, must have, S&W revolvers.............

My top five would be:
1. 3.5" 357 Magnum (pre 27 preferrably. best overall looks for me)
2. 6.5" 44 Magnum 5 screw (better than a 4" for me)
3. 38/44 Heavy Duty with 5" barrel (great balance, all N frame 5" included)
4. Triple Lock (really hard to find in Calif.)
5. 5" 627 PC (right barrel length and 8 rounds)

I don't have all of them yet, but pretty close.

K22 6"
m10-5 4" tapered
m14-4 8-3/8"

.357 Registered Magnum (any)
1917 .45acp
Pre-29 .44 Magnum
Model 18 4"
Model 13 3"

Triple-lock in .45 Long Colt with 4-inch barrel (and a factory letter!)
Model 45 in .22
Model 520 in .357
Model 19 w/5-inch barrel (I always thought this was the perfect cop gun, a sort of 7/8th scale Mod. 27)
Model 42 (Centennial Airweight)

I always wanted a Model 25 1955 target in 45ACP.
Also a M-24, M-36 flatlatch, M-57, and early M-29 like Elmer Keith had.

i will have to choose from what i own,very tuff to do........

Four inch Model 10

Six inch N frame .357

Four inch N frame in 45 ACP

Two inch J frame in 38 Special

Six inch K frame in .22lr.

1) 4" Model 19

2) 3" 66-2

3) 4" 27-2

4) 3" 686 CS1

5) 4" full lug Model 14

I'll play too.

2" J frame 38 Spl
4" K frame 22 LR
3 or 4" K frame 38 Spl
4" N frame 357 Mag
4" N frame 44 Mag

They can be blue or stainless to suit your tastes, but the above list should cover the bases for nearly all shooting needs. At least in my opinion.

If I only had 5 S&W

1. 3" M-65 .357
2. 2" M- 642 .38
3. 4" M-686 .357
4. 6" K-22 .22
5. 4" Mountain gun .45 colt

K-22, 4" - target practice
M19/66, 4" - HD, usable w/ 357s (158gr)
M13/65, 3" - CCW, all around great balance
M640, 2" - CCW pocket rocket (357)
M442/642 - 38SPL J- frame for pocket carry

I happen to own all but the 442/642 but have one in layaway. I echo the desire for a 4" 44mag but where I live it would be a luxury. But if I decided that had to be a muct have, it'd bump out the M19/66 more than likely.

Rhino

1. M-29, 8 3/8" Nickel
2. M-686, 4"
3. M-25-2, 6 1/2"
4. M-63, 4"
5. M-19, 4"

Tough to pick, but of all the S&W revolvers I own, these would be the 5 I would always keep.....not really, I'll keep them all!!!

My Top 5

1. New Century .44 HE Triplelock
2. Pre-war 5" 38/44
3. Post War 4" 38/44
4. 2nd model .44HE
5. 3rd model 44HE
I have all 5+ but am always feeding my 44 addiction

5 is a hard number
1= 29 6.5" hunting/ target largest size belt gun
2= 27 5" best size/ accuracy/ power for a belt gun
3= 66 4" concealed carry and power
4= 642 deep cover/ backup
5= 17 6" target/ practice/ hunting
Hard choices.Depends on where you live, how you live and where you shoot. No 41 mags or 45 colts made it. So it is not realistic. hehehe

Here's my 5 and my first post

1. M10 4"HB
2. M19 4"
3. M586 6"
4. M29 6"
5. K38 6"

no stainless - no locks
