what year and grips for this s&w?

s&w 38 special ctg, 5 inch barrel

serial 886xx is on bottom grip and ejector shroud.

A few spaces to the left is an S

Where could I get original grips?
I am thinking these grips are not original.

Any other info about it would be interesting to me.

Is it an old m&p?

With that extractor shroud, this looks like a post-WW2 heavy duty,
not a K-frame M&P. What is the serial number ? Something
starting with S ?

It weighs about 2 lbs 12 ounces.

That has to be a H-D. I noticed that the grips don't fit right at the DA hump. The grips are K frame targets that someone made work on an N frame.

I think you are right.

I had first thought H D, but I overlooked that S to the left.

I looked and looked but now I see it.

The grips do not fit well as you say.
That is one reason I asked about original grips.
