Whatcha think? 4566tsw

Hey guys,
Went to my lgs and looked at a well used 4566tsw..
I have a few other 3rd gen smiths in 9mm + 40 and really like em. Just no .45's yet and like the tsw models.
Think this one might be a Leo trade in. I believe they want $400 for the pistol and 1 mag no box/papers. Thoughts?

I got a good deal on mine, but I paid more than that for it. I don't know what YOU mean by well used(beat to death?)but is it in good mechanical condition? If so, it is well worth $400, at least.

If its a Police gun the use is mainly external wear. Don't confuse rub marks for actual wear from use. Price isn't bad.

Yes, sorry. Seemed mostly like external wear, holster wear, a few dings, black parts looked faded... Insides looked nice and clean.

$400 for a all stainless 45 made by S$W. That wouldn't be a hard one for me. Life is short-buy the gun.

One way to look at it is $400 was a good price for good, used 4566 fifteen to twenty years ago and most other guns have doubled.

I also paid more than that for mine. I think it is my favorite. Heck, if it's anywhere near western KY I'll buy it! I see 9mm third gens at the gun shows and stores but rarely do I see .45s.

On another note,
I just noticed the same lgs also have one listed on a popular auction site, 1 day 9hrs left and it's at 340$ with no reserve.. Is there a rule against me posting the auction link here, so anyone who has interest can peep, or is that a no no?

Best Commander-size 45 out there.

I carried a regular 4566 on duty and always felt comfortable with it.

Can't say the same about the 2 M&P full size 45s that replaced it.

I believe there is a rule about posting links to live auctions, & it is frowned upon.

Buy it quick. I just missed out on a 645 w/ one mag no box for $385. The model you're looking at is on my buy list.

Buy it - Carried one for years - Smithm semi's are way undervalued. Again it is probably a police trade-in. Lots of external and holster wear. Probably fired very little...

Went back today and checked it out some more, actually not as beat looking as I thought.
Most worn things are the original grips in a few spots and the night sights are worn out. -Also some of the black accent pieces are faded but thats no biggie, So I threw down a deposit

One thing I noticed was there was no red dot where the decocker/safety are, at first I thought was the decock only model, but guess the red just wore off, because it did both functions fine.
